As someone who’s spent countless hours on the green, I can’t help but appreciate the latest offering from FootJoy – the Packard LX. Having tried and tested various golf shoes over the years, I can confidently say that this one stands out. The closed lacing system and modern take on a traditional saddle section are a welcome addition to my collection, not to mention the luxurious feel of the box leather textile and rich nubuck.
As autumn nears, most significant golf tournaments on the calendar have passed, providing opportunities for brands such as FootJoy to construct stories around key products like the Field LX. Introduced in 2024, the Field LX is a modernized version of the Premiere Series Field, featuring a complete length mudguard. The design of the Metalwood and luxury fashion designer Jon Buscemi were both incorporated into the Field LX, offering a more customizable platform for FootJoy’s derby silhouette. Now in September, another model from the Premiere Series, the Packard, is receiving the LX makeover.
In contrast to traditional designs, the Packard features a unique closed lacing system and an updated interpretation of a classic saddle section. Instead of incorporating a mudguard, FJ opted to swap out the usual pebbled leather on the Packard with box leather textile, characterized by its long grain, shiny finish, and premium bison texture. The saddle section also undergoes enhancement through the use of luxurious nubuck, while the interior receives soft lambskin lining and additional cushioning. Consequently, these improvements result in an additional cost of $45 USD on top of the regular price for the Packard, bringing the total to $245 USD.
At the moment, you can get your hands on the Field LX model through FootJoy. For the time being, it’s only offered in a combination of white and navy with a striking red clay midsole.
