As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt and countless nights spent in the company of Freddy Fazbear and his mechanical pals, I must say, it’s been quite a ride! The announcement of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit releasing early is like a sweet, terrifying surprise on this Freddyversary.
Let’s cheer for Freddy Fazbear’s birthday, as August is undeniably his month! ScottGames is commemorating a full decade of Five Nights at Freddy’s, and with numerous main series games and spin-offs to boast, it’s amazing to remember that this frightful yet adorable franchise has only been around for ten years.
Although we can’t deny our disappointment over the cancellation of the anticipated Fortnite crossover, instead opting for a collaboration with Dead by Daylight, ScottGames aims to compensate by unexpectedly releasing a fresh new game.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit is releasing early
As a long-time fan of Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNaF), I can hardly contain my excitement! Being a part of this community for years now, I’ve seen many twists and turns in the FNaF franchise, but today feels particularly special. Just moments ago, it was announced that “Into the Pit” will be released early in Japan, and I believe this decision is not only smart but also fitting for a game like FNaF to launch ahead of schedule!

ScottGames announced on X (previously known as Twitter) that Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit was already launched early in Japan. They also stated that the game will be released ahead of schedule in other regions on August 7. Consequently, players can now access the game via Steam, and a console version is expected to follow later in 2021.
With an appropriately eerie trailer, Mega Cat Studios is venturing into uncharted territory for the series, introducing the first 2D installment of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Crafted in a charming retro pixel art style, this game promises an exciting new adventure. Inspired by the Fazbear Frights: Into the Pit anthology novel, you’ll engage in a series of mini-games set within a dilapidated pizzeria.
As a youngster named Oswald, you find yourself in the main pit and compelled to traverse various time zones to gather hints. Meanwhile, you are being chased by the robot adversaries that have contributed to the popularity of the Five Nights at Freddy’s series.
ScottGames is excitedly revealing a series of updates and sneak peeks throughout the month, and luckily, many of these projects seem more promising than the Five Nights at Freddy’s karting game. Known for creating hits like Help Wanted and Security Breach, Steel Wool Studios has also announced the next main installment in the series, titled Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Mimic Secret.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got to say, Mega Cat is really hyping up multiple endings for Into the Pit to boost its replay value, but let’s face it, at $19.99/$16.75, it’s on the pricier side for a side-scrolling adventure. Still, with a sequel movie in the works and more games than I can keep track of, the Five Nights franchise doesn’t seem to be slowing down, even though its robots might rust.
