As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the variety of classes available in this game is truly impressive. For those just starting out, Formker seems like a versatile choice that offers a little bit of everything without compromising on damage or defense.
If you want to pick the best class in Flame of Valhalla, that’s no easy feat. To make things simple, all the classes are good – it all depends on your play style and whether or not you play with friends or solo.
In this post, I will provide you with comprehensive information about each class, helping you make an informed decision on the one that suits your playstyle best. Additionally, you might discover which class is generally considered the strongest if you’re playing the game on your own.
Each class has 3 specialisations
To kick things off, you need to know that each of the classes has 3 sub-classes (specialisations). Each one will focus on a specific skill set and will have different skills. Although they all belong to the same class, each subclass is more tailored towards something – be it damage, support, crowd control or defense.
When you initially choose a class, you’ll only have the initial skill set at your disposal. However, after activating Resurrection, you’ll begin acquiring skills from one of the three skill trees.
Unlike in other games, you don’t get to pick a specific sub-class. You choose it by picking its skills, and by farming the Skill Scroll Remnants to level up said skills.
I am going to rank each of the classes here, so you can get a better idea of which one to pick if it’s your first time playing the game.
1 Knight
The Knights are your typical melee damage dealers and tanks. This class has a fairly easy playstyle, and it is pretty fun too. For a complete beginner who likes to head into battle head-first, this is a great class, since you can later specialise in a more damage-focused build, or take a more “tanky” approach.
Fury Warrior
The Fury Warrior is a combat sub-class that excels in dealing damage and enhancing agility, which makes it a fantastic choice for individuals who prefer close-quarters combat, offering significant damage output while maintaining a decent level of durability.
Shield Vanguard
The Shield Vanguard is quite straightforward; it primarily revolves around the use of shields and boasts several control capabilities, making it an effective choice for Player vs Player (PvP) engagements.
Holy Knight
As a devout follower of my order, I embody the epitome of tanking prowess. My specialized role grants me enhanced defensive attributes and abilities, making me virtually indestructible in battle. If you relish the idea of standing as an unyielding bulwark against adversity, then this is the class that calls to your spirit.
2 Mage
Mages are pretty universal in most games – as you can expect, they have AoE skills and control abilities, and depending on which sub-class you want to focus on, you can have a wide range of skills to make the Mage more fun. This class is extremely popular since their AoE skills prove useful more often than not, but to top it all off, their control abilities are what makes them shine in PvP.
Ice Mage
The Ice Mage, much like a traditional mage, boasts acceptable all-around statistics. They excel in maintaining a harmonious blend of area-of-effect spells and controlling abilities, without compromising too much on defense.
Mad Arcanist
The Mad Arcanists are the “offensive-focused” Mages. This specialization boosts your attack and agility significantly, offering both increased offense and control. However, it reduces some defensive stats, making you more susceptible to damage. The crucial aspect is strategic positioning, aiming to minimize the amount of harm taken.
Elemental Emissary
The Role of the Elemental Emissary is similar to that of a “tank mage.” It may not match up to the mighty Holy Knight, but it boasts decent defense and an array of offensive abilities. This enables a more aggressive playstyle, as you can focus on attacking rather than worrying too much about taking a few hits here and there.
3 Astrologer
The Astrologer is a class that can offer support, damage, heals, and various other perks that you would see from a support class. Don’t worry though, it can also take a more damage-focused route. It is not the easiest class to play, but it can be pretty fun. This is the one I picked, and I couldn’t be happier. Depending on the specialisation you pick, you can either go for a more supportive approach, or a more damage-focused one.
Witch of Icemoon
This specialized skill set provides ample control without compromising its damage potential. It excels in both player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) scenarios, boasting a reliable and rhythmic sequence of damaging actions.
Fire Dancer
As a gamer, I’d say, “I’ve found the Fire Dancer to be all about dishing out the heat! This character specializes in unleashing area-of-effect fire damage. If you’re into playing a pyromaniac mage, the Fire Dancer is definitely worth a try!
Starlight Priest
As a gamer, I’d choose this class if I’m aiming for a tanky Astrologer build. It offers substantial survivability with a good deal of sustain, although it may not dish out damage as aggressively as the other two builds I’ve tried before.
4 Barbarian
If you like dual weapons, the Barbarian is your class. This is more like a warrior, but it can also be quite tanky. It is quite a beginner-friendly class, and if you like their melee play style, it could very well be your go-to class. The Barbarian has great attack and sustain, decent defense, and quite okay control. You can’t really go wrong playing it if you like a more Viking approach.
Crimson Berserker
The Crimson Berserker primarily emphasizes command and functioning. It’s an excellent pick for novices due to its versatility, providing a balanced blend of offense and defense without compromising on either.
Winter’s Edge
As a Winter’s Edge Barbarian, you wield a significant amount of power. It boasts both solid attack and agility, which makes it an appealing choice for those who enjoy Player versus Player combat.
Radiant Gladiator
The Luminous Gladiator stands out as a Barbarian with enhanced defensive capabilities. This subclass offers a versatile blend of attributes, boasting slightly stronger defenses compared to other Barbarians. If you’re seeking a tank-like character who prioritizes damage output and finds the Holy Knight less appealing, the Radiant Gladiator could be an ideal choice for you.
5 Dragon Rider
The Dragon Rider is a fun class for those who like a pure warrior class. It is okay for beginners, but even better for those experienced with the play style. It has melee to mid range, and they have a neat balance between defense and attack, making them good for pretty much any content you want to play.
Thunder Warrior
The Thunder Warriors primarily excel in offensive capabilities and speed, while their defense is relatively strong. However, they lack much control, so it’s essential to pay attention to your placement on the field.
Red Dragon Rider
The Red Dragon Rider is a sub-class that boasts solid defense and command, though it may not deal as much damage as the Thunder Warrior. It’s an excellent pick if you’re playing cooperatively and desire a character class that offers control and sturdiness.
Swift Lancer
This is where things start getting exciting! The Swift Lancer offers strong attack capabilities, reasonable defense, and excellent agility, as well as some control. It stands out as the best balanced option among them all, making it an ideal pick if you’re aiming for this class.
6 Ranger
The Ranger or Archer class is a damage-focused class, that relies on their high range to take down enemies. They are not that good at close-combat, since their defense and HP and pretty low by default. As a new player, this class is not exactly ideal, since positioning is crucial, and you cannot afford to take unnecessary hits in both PvE and PvP.
Quill Ranger
The Quill Ranger adopts the traditional Ranger role, offering a well-rounded combination of Attack, Agility, Operations, and Control. This character primarily concentrates on the enemy in sight, aiming to avoid taking any damage themselves. If you prefer a classic approach to playing the Ranger class, then the Quill Ranger is a dependable choice for you.
Hurricane Archer
This class boasts significantly more management of large groups compared to the Quill Ranger, making it an enjoyable one to experiment with. It stands out particularly well in Player versus Player scenarios due to its control-focused traits, although it performs admirably in Player versus Environment situations as well.
Eagle-Eyed Hunter
This particular sub-class can be considered as a sturdier version of the Ranger. It boasts higher offense and defense compared to others, but it doesn’t offer the same control that other specializations do. It’s an enjoyable character to play, and if I had to choose one, I’d go for this one.
