WARNING! Major Spoilers Ahead for Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 1 & 2!
The iconic character Daredevil, portrayed by Charlie Cox, has returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a new series titled “Daredevil: Born Again“. The premiere took place on March 4, with the first two episodes now streaming on Disney+. Fresh episodes will be released weekly, yet some viewers are hesitant due to the emotional intensity of the initial installments. The revival is being viewed as an unofficial Season 4 of the original Daredevil, featuring returning characters like Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). However, a shocking twist occurred in the first 15 minutes of “Born Again” when Foggy was killed off, leaving fans distraught. There’s speculation that his death might not be as definitive as it appears.
In the initial scene of Daredevil: Born Again, set at Josie’s Bar, Foggy is tragically taken by Benjamin Poindexter, also known as Bullseye (played by Wilson Bethel). It appears that Foggy’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be concluding prematurely. However, a keen-eyed Twitter user @DDevilUpdates has suggested that there could be more to his demise than initially perceived. This is because the scene subtly includes an Easter egg: the address of Nelson, Murdock & Page law firm is 468. This number is significant as it mirrors issue #468 of Daredevil: The Man Without Fear!, where Foggy Nelson orchestrated his own fake death, with the title of the comic being “The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson.
In the plotline, Foggy Nelson got stabbed when he visited Matt Murdock in prison. Post his recovery, Foggy was given an opportunity to enter witness protection as a means to evade those intent on harming him to reach Daredevil. Some speculate that this could imply that Foggy’s death in “Born Again” may not be as definitive as initially assumed. If the series chooses to pursue this route, it might dilute the emotional impact of Foggy’s demise in Episode 1. Nevertheless, fans are also displeased about how quickly Foggy’s storyline in “Born Again” concluded.
Karen and Foggy Will Return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2
Despite the ambiguity surrounding Foggy’s fate in “Daredevil: Born Again,” it is evident that his character will continue to play a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is supported by the confirmation that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson will be reprising their roles for Season 2 of “Born Again.
Shortly following the initial release of the first two episodes on Disney+, it was affirmed that Karen and Foggy are fundamentally linked to Matt Murdock’s narrative. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of television, streaming, and animation, stated this connection. He further added:
“I strongly believe that the tales of Matt Murdock wouldn’t be complete without these two characters. I can’t wait to see them both return in Season 2… Without revealing too much, let me tell you that Deborah Ann [Woll] and Elden [Henson] will indeed reappear in Season 2.”
