Football Manager 2025 cancelled on all platforms

  • Following multiple pushbacks, Football Manager 2025 has been cancelled
  • The team cited technical quality as a cause behind the decision
  • Instead, they will focus their efforts on the next installment

The much-anticipated Football Manager 2025, a popular sports simulation game, has unexpectedly been scrapped across all platforms, including its planned mobile release on Netflix Games. Although Sports Interactive had initially delayed the launch, they have now officially announced that Football Manager 2025 is canceled effective immediately. In their statement, Sports Interactive mentioned the challenges in meeting their technical standards and stated their focus has shifted to the next title in the series. This cancellation will undoubtedly disappoint fans due to several factors, but perhaps most significantly because of the previous promise that Football Manager 25 would be available on mobile devices, a decision that was expected to attract numerous new enthusiasts to the franchise, but which now remains uncertain for the time being.

Gone too far

When it comes to announcements such as this I think the natural reaction is frustration from many fans, especially to have the cancellation notice only at this late hour with the most recent release date set for March of this year, that and the confirmation there will be no updates to FM24 to try and tide fans over.

However, I’d be remiss not to suggest it should be tempered by considering that it’s at least somewhat respectable to commit to not releasing an inferior product, even if it could have been handled better. Hopefully, if and when Football Manager 26 is confirmed we’ll see the series make a return to Netflix Games.
