Former Officials Unite to Free Binance Exec in Nigeria

As a crypto investor with a background in law enforcement, I’m deeply concerned about the situation surrounding Tigran Gambaryan’s detainment in Nigeria. With over a decade of experience as a Special Agent with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Gambaryan has a commendable track record of upholding the law and fighting financial crimes. His work on cases involving child pornography, terrorism financing, identity theft, and the Silk Road public corruption cases is a testament to his dedication and expertise.

Approximately 100 ex-federal prosecutors and law enforcement agents from the US have joined forces to appeal to the U.S. Department of State for prompt action in securing the freedom of Tigran Gambaryan, who is currently detained in Nigeria.

In a letter penned to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on June 6th, they strongly emphasized the need for immediate action, expressing their concern that “The U.S. government’s actions so far have been insufficient, and the potential repercussions of further inactivity could be extremely serious.”

Gambaryan boasts an impressive 10-year history with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the role of a Special Agent, where they excelled in financial crimes and compliance before joining Binance.

In their testimonials, his previous coworkers emphasized his commitment to enforcing the law. They provided examples of cases he had been involved in, such as those pertaining to child pornography, funding for terrorism, identity theft, and the public corruption scandal surrounding Silk Road.

The letter states that Gambaryan is presently detained based on allegations of money laundering and tax evasion, which the signatories claim are unsubstantiated. They make it clear that his employment with Binance does not implicate him for the business’s conduct. Instead, they express his innocence and highlight his status as a low-level employee.

Ex-officials vouch for Gambaryan’s unblemished reputation and insist he’s unjustly accused. They urge the US administration to take robust measures to free him and uphold fairness in the process.
