Fielding Miller aims to bridge the void in the sports-centric hat industry with his freshly introduced brand, Thurston. Inspired by the missing snowboarding and skiing headwear options he longed for, he’s launching this new venture.
Following years of designing garments at Polartec, people started requesting Miller’s creations. “To fulfill these requests, I had some pieces made to gift to friends, which confirmed certain ideas and sparked new inspiration,” he explained. “Recognizing that there was a lack of focus on crafting top-tier performance headwear, particularly with a casual aesthetic in mind, I decided to venture into it as a business.” Consequently, Thurston was established.
Thurston’s first collection, meticulously crafted over a span of four years, encompasses a balaclava, a skull cap, a beanie, and an alpine hat. These items are manufactured using advanced Polartec® Power Wool™ and Wind Pro® fabric technologies, offering four times greater wind resistance while enhancing the thermal properties of the organic materials.
Simplistic yet stylish, this assortment offers a modern twist to conventional headgear. The array of colors leans towards cool tones such as frosty grey, black, and pristine white. Additionally, the visible contrasting stitching on the balaclava and alpine hat adds a subtle yet appealing detail.
Each of the three hats are priced at $60 USD, while the balaclava costs $70 USD. The complete collection is now up for grabs on Thurston’s online store. Take a look at the items showcased in the gallery above.
