As a seasoned Fortnite player with countless hours spent on the battlefield, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming first-person mode! The prospect of a more immersive gaming experience has me eagerly counting down the days until December 11th. While I’ve dabbled in VR gaming with titles like Batman: Arkham Shadows and Metro: Awakening, the idea of Fortnite VR sends my adrenaline soaring!
In a recent developer update, Fortnite announced plans to introduce a first-person perspective starting from December. This change excites fans of both battle royale and shooting genres, but it also opens up possibilities for a potential Virtual Reality (VR) version of Fortnite down the line.
In simpler terms, the first-person perspective in Fortnite will first be accessible through the Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Creative mode. The beta testing phase is set to begin on December 11.
As Chapter 6 approaches, gamers eagerly anticipate its arrival in Fortnite’s battle royale setting. In a recent tweet from the Fortnite Developers, players express their excitement about the upcoming feature and are intrigued to discover what fresh content Fortnite has in store for the upcoming season.
In the realm of Fortnite gaming, I, as a player, should note that the first-person perspective is still under development and currently available in beta testing. This means there will be certain boundaries to its application within Creative mode. According to the Fortnite Creator Portal, here are some limitations you might encounter when using the first-person view:
- All ranged weapons (except dual-wield weapons like Dual Pistols) and the Ballistic Shield are usable in first-person, but not all weapons currently have custom reload animations in first-person.
- When dual-wielding weapons, the camera will automatically switch to third-person. This will remain the case in the Beta release.
- Not all player actions are available in first-person. In some situations, such as swimming, gliding, and skydiving, the camera automatically switches to the third person. This will remain the case in the Beta release.
- Some actions may cause the player’s hands or weapon to be hidden.
- Shadows are missing; in some situations, you may notice rendering imperfections like clipping.
In recent times, virtual reality (VR) games have experienced a significant comeback, with titles like Batman: Arkham Shadows and Metro: Awakening elevating the VR gaming experience. The idea of having Fortnite in VR mode is intriguing, much like what Minecraft offered before it ceased its virtual reality support in the Creative mode.
