Fox is venturing into the rapidly growing category of reality TV, focusing on individuals participating in a game, with a few of them covertly attempting to influence the actions of the others.
Shorter version: Fox is doing its take on The Traitors.
The television show titled “The Snake” is filled with unexpected twists and turns, much like its namesake creature. This series will be hosted by comedian Jim Jefferies, and it’s brought to us by SallyAnn Salsano, who was also behind the creation of “Jersey Shore.” The show is scheduled to debut during the summer months.
SallyAnn lends her distinctive, innovative perspective to Fox with a novel twist on the strategy competition series and an idea that appeals to everyone, according to Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn. He guarantees that The Snake delivers on its promise.
Fox is referring to the show The Snake as a “social survival of the fittest” contest. This competition will involve 15 participants who work in different professions that require persuasive skills. According to the network’s description, each participant must utilize their distinct abilities, training, and powers of persuasion to overcome various challenges aimed at demonstrating the traits required for success in the game. The winner of each challenge takes on the role of The Snake, gaining control over the Saving Ceremony, a dramatic elimination process where it’s not about who wants someone gone but who is willing to save them. The Snake isn’t solely determined by winning challenges; it’s also about influencing and forming connections with others. Connections are crucial whether you’re making friends, pretending to be friends, or sparking romantic relationships. Promises are put to the test during the Saving Ceremony as players do everything they can to avoid being chosen last by The Snake, hoping to dodge elimination.
The winner will get a $100,000 prize.
Jefferies expressed his excitement about hosting ‘The Snake,’ a program that explores the dynamics of making and pretending to be friends,” said he. “With my entire life preparing me for this role, having spent my childhood in Australia and now residing in Hollywood, I’ve had ample encounters with various kinds of people, or should I say, ‘snakes’.
In the same vein, “The Serpent” now teams up with other deceitful series such as “The Trust” and “Million Dollar Mystery” on Netflix. Originally leading the pack in this niche genre is “The Mole,” which initially aired on ABC during the 2000s and was reintroduced to Netflix three years ago.
495 Productions, under the leadership of Salsano, is responsible for creating the series “The Snake,” which is owned by Fox Entertainment. Alongside Salsano, Frank Miccolis and Kim Green are also serving as executive producers on this show.
