As a long-time admirer of Hiroshi Fujiwara’s groundbreaking design ethos and a passionate aficionado of traditional games with a modern twist, this latest collaboration between fragment design and M.League has me absolutely thrilled! The fusion of these two iconic brands promises to elevate the timeless game of Mahjong to new heights.
Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design collaborates with M.League, a prominent Japanese Mahjong association, in producing a line of items aimed at increasing the appeal and popularity of this traditional tile game.
In partnership with Fragment Design, M.League aims to broaden the reach of Mahjong and solidify its reputation as a mentally stimulating sport. This classic Chinese game centers around arranging tiles, representing elements like bamboo stalks, dragons, and flowers among others, to create matching sets or pairs. It’s worth noting that M.League represents the inaugural national team Mahjong league, where top-tier Mahjong professionals engage in competition to establish dominance.
A dual-branded electric mahjong table serves as the central hub for collaboration, presenting in a sleek all-black design. It comes equipped with a rapid-scoring system, an auto-deal function, a dice box simulator, and the fast-performing AMOS REXX III system. Moreover, this collection offers mahjong tiles made from urea resin, available in navy and gray sets, each adorned with distinctive designs by Fujiwara. Lastly, an accessory set is included, which features a binder, score sheet, calculator, and pen, all embellished with the logos of both brands.
At the moment, you can reserve this assortment through ABEMA’s online store, with prices varying from ¥5,500 JPY to an impressive ¥1,485,000 JPY. Anticipated shipments are scheduled for January 2025. I invite you to peruse the designs showcased in the gallery above.
