Frank Grillo Shares Candid Thoughts About ‘The Purge 6’

As a movie buff with a penchant for action-packed thrillers and a soft spot for horror flicks, I can confidently say that Frank Grillo is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors to watch on screen. With his latest venture, “Werewolves,” he’s taken the genre to new heights, delivering a bloodcurdling experience that’s sure to leave horror enthusiasts begging for more.

Frank Grillo finds himself immersed in peril and mortality, particularly on-screen. However, the action-packed actor is voicing multiple roles within James Gunn’s new DC Universe, starting with Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Creature Commandos’ debuting on Max this December, followed by appearances in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 and the upcoming ‘Superman’ reboot slated for next summer. Grillo remains a busy man, also starring as the lead in Steven C. Miller’s ‘Werewolves’, a thrilling horror adventure he describes as “an intriguing journey.” Interestingly, this project was originally pitched as a blend of ‘The Purge’ and werewolves. Despite ongoing questions about his role in ‘The Purge 6’, Grillo offers a straightforward response.

They discuss the upcoming event referred to as “The Purge 6”. I’m uncertain about my involvement, but honestly, it seems a bit wild to exclude me, don’t you think?

Yes, it’s accurate to say that the actor from Tulsa King has been part of the Purge franchise. He portrayed Sgt. Leo Barnes in The Purge: Anarchy (2014) and reprised his role for The Purge: Election Year in 2016, both under the direction of creator James DeMonaco. As of now, he’s hinted that a script for The Purge 6 has been completed, so we’ll have to wait and see if he’ll be involved. For the time being, he’s focusing on his role in Werewolves, a project with potential for further development beyond its initial release, scheduled for theaters on December 6.

Werewolves in Paris, Anyone?

In his discussion about potential sequels for the film, Grillo expressed, “Initially, when I joined this project, that was sort of the plan.” He continued, “If we manage to pull this off successfully… you know, let’s explore further. We could visit Paris, we could go to Morocco. Wolves are found in many places, so here’s hoping it works out.” The film’s intriguing plot, the resurgence of interest in werewolf horror films, the director Steven C. Miller’s skillful use of practical effects, and the nostalgic 1980s horror feel that the movie exudes have left horror enthusiasts excited. Additionally, anything that evokes a sense of nostalgia for the 1980s is popular right now, and Werewolves certainly fits the bill. Regarding his collaboration with Miller, Grillo added:

I’d like to acknowledge Stephen C. Miller for his impressive work on this film. Honestly, I wasn’t fully grasping its potential initially. At times, I’d glance at him, watching those practical wolves, and wonder, ‘Will this pull off? Can we manage it during post-production?’ And let me tell you, I was just as amazed as everyone else when I saw the final product. In fact, it looked like a Universal production to me when I watched it!

As a fervent cinephile, let me tell you that this horror flick is relentlessly chilling and gory from its very start. It’s an absolute blast for any aficionado of the genre. And just as I suspected, Grillo is eager to collaborate with Miller once more, expressing, “I’d jump at the chance to team up with him again because we’ve got some intriguing concepts brewing. He’s a masterful action director, and I believe he’s reaching new heights. This movie promises to elevate Steven to unparalleled heights as a director. Frankly, I think people are going to be astounded by his capabilities, so I’d do anything with him. I have complete faith in him.” Quite an endorsement, indeed. Werewolves will grace the big screen on December 6.
