As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours navigating the intricate worlds of various video games, I find myself drawn to the real-life journey of Fran Denny, a woman who has masterfully maneuvered her way through the labyrinthine landscape of the television industry.
Fremantle announced on Thursday that Fran Denny has been given a new position as Vice President of Commercial for Global Drama. This new role reports directly to Seb Shorr, the Chief Operating Officer of Global Drama.
Fran has been appointed to a new position where they’ll collaborate closely with Seb in managing the commercial aspects of the international drama unit. Their key responsibilities include spearheading deal-making for our initial-contract producers, contributing to the overall film strategy, and seeking out fresh opportunities for the team,” the production company announced.
Denny began working at Fremantle in February 2022, holding the role of Legal and Business Affairs Manager for Global Drama and Documentaries. Later, in April 2023, she was given a promotion to Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs for Global Drama.
Before stepping into the dynamic environment of Fremantle, my professional journey led me through Sister Pictures and Warner Brothers Television Production U.K.
Shorr expressed that it’s been delightful collaborating with Fran for the past three years, appreciating her business intuition and negotiation abilities. He’s excited about deepening their partnership in Fran’s new position, a crucial role designed to drive our aspirations for global drama expansion,” said Shorr.
Fremantle, known for its expanding movie industry, belongs to the media conglomerate RTL Group, a subsidiary of the German media titan Bertelsmann.
Over the past few weeks, the company has been quite occupied as the year comes to an end. It recently sealed a five-year deal with Jamie Oliver’s Group, strengthening their longstanding partnership that dates back over two decades. Additionally, on Wednesday, they announced the launch of Kugel, an eight-episode spinoff from the popular Israeli show Shtisel. This series is jointly produced by Abot Hameiri, Fremantle, and Menuetto Film, with Fremantle responsible for selling it globally.
