Friendship Day 2024: YJHD’s Udaipur to Dil Chahta Hai’s Goa, 10 Bollywood-inspired destinations to visit with your BFF

As a die-hard Bollywood fan with a heart full of wanderlust, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the thought of celebrating Friendship Day by revisiting some of the most iconic destinations featured in my favorite movies! From the romantic lakesides of Udaipur to the vibrant beaches of Goa, these film locations have always held a special place in my heart.

The special occasion of Friendship Day is typically observed on the first Sunday in August within India, but it’s globally celebrated on August 4th. On this day, friends enjoy spending time together by watching movies, embarking on trips, and engaging in other activities. For those who appreciate entertainment, there’s nothing quite like creating lasting memories with cherished companions by taking an unforgettable trip on this unique day.

As a lifelong fan of Bollywood movies, I can attest to the fact that they have captured some truly breathtaking destinations that are just waiting to be explored. From the romantic streets of Udaipur featured in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to the sun-soaked beaches of Goa showcased in Dil Chahta Hai, I’ve always dreamed of visiting these places and experiencing them for myself. This Friendship Day, I encourage everyone to take a break from our daily routines and embark on an adventure to one (or more!) of these iconic destinations with your closest friends by your side. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the bond between you and create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime. So, let’s get planning and make this Friendship Day one for the books!

1. Udaipur

Experience the charm of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin, as it showcases breathtaking locations, including Udaipur. On Friendship Day, take a leisurely walk around the enchanting Lake Pichola and indulge in royal hospitality within its regal quarters. Consider arranging a visit to Udaipur to rekindle the exciting scenes from the movie!

Beyond just Udaipur, the film captivated audiences with the stunningly beautiful Manali, which served as their travel destination. It’s also an ideal spot for a getaway with your closest friends.

2. Goa

On watching “Dil Chahta Hai,” we all dreamed about visiting Goa for an unforgettable adventure with friends. This Friendship Day, embark on a journey to Goa with your closest companions! Visit the breathtaking Chapora Fort, where the characters (Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, and Akshaye Khanna) shared their most intimate moments and laughter. Additionally, you can explore the stunning beaches of Palolem and Baga, immerse yourself in the lively nightlife of Calangute, savor local seafood and Portuguese dishes, and create memories to last a lifetime.

3. Khardung La

Instead of revisiting familiar paths, why not embark on an exhilarating journey to Ladakh, similar to Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, Sanjana Sanghi, and Fatima Sana Sheikh in their adventure in Dhak Dhak? Their shared experiences along the way, culminating at Khardung La, undeniably fortified their bond as friends.

4. Leh Ladakh

How can someone forget the famous Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh where 3 Idiots scenes were shot? Several tourists visit there to have the time of their lives. You can also pack your bags and make a trip plan with your friends. Don’t worry too much because it will be worth it!

5. Ooty

One of the locations where Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was filmed is the hill station town of Ooty, nestled within the Western Ghats mountain range in Tamil Nadu state, southern India. Here you can enjoy a ride on the toy train and visit Ooty Lake, but there’s plenty more to discover! The region also boasts attractions like the Ooty Botanical Gardens, Rose Gardens, and the iconic Dolphin’s Nose, all perfect for exploring with friends.

6. Barcelona

When discussing Friendship Day, a movie that instantly pops up is Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. This film featuring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, and Katrina Kaif has motivated numerous fans to explore Barcelona and personally visit the locations shown in the movie. The streets, architecture, natural landscapes, and overall scenery depicted in the film are truly captivating.

7. Europe

As a dedicated follower, I propose that we celebrate Friendship Day in Europe by carefully planning an excursion. The movie “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, took us to some of Europe’s most stunning locations. This film also ignited India’s passion for the Swiss Alps. In addition, there is a Chopra Lake in Alpenrausch and a Chopra train operated by Jungfrau Railways. Let’s embark on this journey together, reliving the magic of friendship as we explore these European wonders.

8. Rohtang Pass

In the movie Jab We Met, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s characters filmed the popular song “Yeh Ishq Hai” on a frozen road, which motivated people to travel to that location. Why not plan a trip with your friends? The breathtaking landscapes of Himachal Pradesh are sure to revitalize your mind and rejuvenate your spirit.

9. Kerala

As a passionate traveler who has had the privilege of exploring many parts of India, I can confidently say that Chennai Express offers a tantalizing glimpse into the enchanting beauty of Kerala. Having visited Wai, Dudhsagar Falls, Munnar Tea plantations, Meesapulimala, and the Vattamalai Murugan Temple myself, I can attest to their breathtaking splendor. The movie’s scenes serve as an invitation for anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable experience this Friendship Day. Embarking on a journey to these locations with friends would undoubtedly create memories that will last a lifetime.

10. Amsterdam

As someone who has traveled extensively around the world, I can confidently say that Amsterdam is one of my favorite destinations. This city, often referred to as “The Venice of the North,” offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty that is truly captivating.
