As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for sports and art, I must say that the Lacoste Ladies Open de France has once again outdone itself this year. The integration of artistic elements into a sporting event is not only innovative but also adds an extra layer of intrigue and engagement.

For three consecutive years now, the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, a golf event on the Ladies European Tour, has made its comeback in northern France with a unique, progressive approach. The French sportswear company has been the title sponsor of this national open for over a decade, but for 2022, they opted to take a fresh route and collaborate with a creative studio to reinvent the tournament, focusing on an artistic perspective.

In Paris, Trajectoire Studio, renowned for blending art and sports in their productions, was entrusted with turning various artistic concepts into tangible pieces. These pieces were carefully arranged around the clubhouse and golf courses, ensuring they didn’t disrupt the gameplay. This year, three fresh artworks joined the collection, some mirroring the sport’s distinctive aesthetic and others offering insights into its cultural significance.

According to Jérémie Nassir, founder of Trajectoire, by partnering with three fresh artistic talents, he aims to showcase artists from a variety of realms, encompassing abstract and illustrative styles. His goal is to introduce diverse viewpoints and present multiple interpretations of golf.

Alexandra De Assunçao, a French-Portuguese artist living in Paris, unveiled THE GIRLS DRIVE – a tribute to women making their mark in sports. In this exhibition, Grems’ creation BACKSPIN was a revamped vintage golf cart adorned with spray paint, while Olivier Binamé’s PARCOURS aimed to depict the trajectory of a golf ball.

For the second consecutive year, Lacoste organized Le Club Lacoste Deauville, providing a unique opportunity for a chosen group of content creators and influencers to immerse themselves in the tournament’s offerings. These six individuals attended prior to the competition’s commencement and were granted an exclusive experience that encompassed attending an evening gala at Golf Barrière Deauville, as well as playing golf alongside Lacoste ambassadors Gregory Havret and Patricia Meunier-Lebouc.

However, the most captivating event turned out to be the ‘closest to the pin’ competition held at Les Planches, a renowned seafront promenade that pays tribute to film stars gracing Deauville’s film festival. Before strutting their stuff on the sand, talents prepared in beach cabins and then took turns attempting to hit golf balls towards a crocodile-shaped target. The entire experience concluded with a goodbye dinner and an awards ceremony to honor the victors of this friendly competition.

Currently, the tournament is underway, so you can catch all the latest updates on the Ladies European Tour (LET) website.
