As a lifelong fan of the Olympics, I must say that I am absolutely captivated by Hoda Kotb’s experiences at this year’s Summer Games in Paris! Having worked in media for many years, it’s hard not to be impressed by her cool encounters with celebrities like Tom Cruise and Sarah Jessica Parker. However, what truly sets Hoda apart is her genuine passion for the athletes and their success.

With Simone Biles and the American gymnastics team set to compete, as well as the swim team aiming for gold, these upcoming days promise intense competition. Yet, the games aren’t only about medals for media personality Hoda Kotb; she’s busy enjoying star-studded encounters with celebrities like Tom Cruise and Sarah Jessica Parker. Not to mention, she’s also rooting for Team USA! Frankly, I can’t get enough of her exciting adventures!
As someone who’s excitedly participating in this year’s Olympics, I can’t help but notice the star-studded atmosphere here in Paris. It’s been a while since we’ve had guests at the Olympics, and it’s clear that they’re making up for lost time! From the cast of Wicked gracing the opening ceremony to former Olympians representing their countries, the energy is electric. Even Hoda Kotb from TODAY was here on Friday, braving the rain to take a selfie with none other than Tom Cruise during the opening ceremonies. The July showers didn’t dampen their spirits – or the photo! If only Tom had worn a rain poncho like everyone else, it would have been perfect!
The morning radio host, who has spent decades in media, is surprised that she’s never crossed paths with Tom Cruise before. Little did she know, a trip from New York to Paris would be all it took for her to meet the renowned “Top Gun” actor and shake his hand.
In a few days, the TV reporter posted a video of her encountering Sarah Jessica Parker at the gymnastics qualifier. As they were both entering, they hugged in the lobby. However, the most amusing aspect of the clip is the message that subtly references the upcoming third season of the Sex and the City spin-off series, And Just Like That: “A wink to our beloved characters!”

At the women’s gymnastics qualifiers for Team USA, Hoda Kotb was thrilled not only by getting close to celebrities on The Today Show, but also deeply passionate about the athletes and their success that made her Paris trip unforgettable. (Instead of “what really makes her trip to Paris so exciting is that she actually cares about the athletes and seeing them succeed,” you could say “the real excitement for Hoda in Paris comes from her deep connection and rooting for the athletes to win.”)
She wears both her USA sweatshirt and binoculars to ensure she doesn’t miss anything, and she’s consistently on her feet, enthusiastically encouraging Simone Biles and the rest of the gymnastics team during their bid for a place in this week’s team final event. Here’s a link to the video:

If Hoda Kotb had personally felt the excitement by touching the gymnasts during their performances, her connection with the audience would have been even stronger. It’s common knowledge that the Olympics can cause anxiety for both participants and viewers alike. As an ardent Olympics fan myself, I can’t help but feel a twinge of envy towards Hoda for living this experience so intimately.
