As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for unique and limited-edition items, I can’t help but be intrigued by this collaboration between G-SHOCK and KFC. Having grown up in Japan during the 70s and 80s, I’ve seen firsthand how KFC has become an integral part of Christmas traditions. The idea of a limited-edition GA-2100 timepiece, embodying this cultural connection, is nothing short of genius!
Over the festive season this year, G-SHOCK and KFC are joining forces for a distinctive collaboration, showcasing their shared Japanese roots. This exciting alliance reveals a restricted edition watch that blends G-SHOCK’s renowned durability with KFC’s prominent place in Japan’s Christmas customs.
Since the 1970s, KFC has been a traditional part of holidays in Japan, due to its “Kentucky is Christmas” marketing campaign. To honor this seasonal custom, G-SHOCK has redesigned its renowned GA-2100 watch with a vibrant red theme and prominent KFC branding.
This watch boasts carbon core guard technology for remarkable toughness, ensuring it can withstand water up to 200 meters depth, shocks, and offers various practical functions like alarms and a countdown timer. Additionally, its unique design underscores the shared cultural bond between G-SHOCK and KFC.
This unique timepiece, inspired by KFC’s legendary 11 herbs and spices, isn’t for sale; instead, it’s being generously gifted. To honor this iconic blend, a total of 11 watches have been produced. From December 14 onwards, one watch will be made available each day at 11:11 AM GMT via the KFC online store. The grand finale for these free giveaways is scheduled for Christmas Eve.
