- Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is set to host its first closed beta on Android and PC
- Netmarble’s upcoming adaptations offer third-person action and adventure in Westeros
- Sign-ups are now open with the beta starting January 15th!
Netmarble’s forthcoming game, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad (based on George R.R. Martin’s book series and the HBO show), will launch a closed beta test towards the end of this month. The beta testing period starts on January 15th and ends on the 22nd for players in the United States, Canada, and certain regions of Europe. If you’re interested in trying out the Android version, applications are now being accepted!
Instead of past mobile games based on Game of Thrones focusing more on strategy and other genres that cater to the complex politics of the storyline, Kingsroad offers an immersive experience by placing you in the role of a single character. After becoming heir to the lesser-known House Tyre through a sequence of unusual events, you’ll traverse the world of Westeros, engaging in combat against enemies and building your reputation for respect and power.
From the trailer, it appears we’re in for a game reminiscent of The Witcher series. You can explore and fight in third-person perspective, and there are three distinct character classes to specialize in – Sellsword, Knight, or Assassin. Everything looks quite impressive, but as they say, the true test comes when we actually play it.
Winter is coming (well it’s already here but you know what I mean)
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! The beta registration for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is open until the 12th of January, so don’t miss out and join the fun before it closes! While it undeniably looks impressive, I have no doubts that this game will face thorough scrutiny. Even though the peak of Game of Thrones cultural influence might be behind us, its loyal fanbase is still eagerly waiting for a ground-level release like this one.
From my gaming perspective, it’s clear that monetization and other elements could potentially pose significant challenges ahead. The long-term strategy and ongoing support are also areas of concern. However, if Netmarble can navigate these hurdles successfully, they might just deliver the immersive Game of Thrones gaming experience that fans like me have been yearning for.
In case you’re not sure about what game to engage with right now, allow me to modestly recommend taking a look at our freshly compiled list featuring the top five new mobile games worth trying this week.
