Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington Reveals The ‘Excruciatingly Embarrassing’ Fan Encounters His Friends Troll Him Over

As a dedicated fan who has followed Kit Harington‘s journey since his days in Westeros, I can’t help but empathize with him as he navigates the complexities of fame. His experiences with non-fans requesting photos and confusing him for landmarks are a humorous reminder of the absurdity that comes with stardom. Yet, it must be a bit disconcerting to be caught off guard, especially when one is so accustomed to being Jon Snow.

Over several years, Kit Harington was a mainstay in television’s most popular series events, and even though it’s been five years since the final episode of Game of Thrones, the franchise continues to thrive due to HBO’s new series like House of The Dragon and the upcoming spinoff Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, as well as the mobile game Game of Thrones: Legends. Despite the vast popularity of this fantasy world, Harington’s public encounters aren’t confined solely to fans who are familiar with his work.

The actor, whose solo “Game of Thrones” spinoff was postponed this year, did play the character of Jon Snow again for a game and seems to have enjoyed the RPG spin-off experience. However, he’s not too fond of being teased by friends over interactions with fans who turned out to be impostors. In an interview with Page Six, Harington discussed this kind of discomfort:

As a gamer, I often find myself in an unexpected role reversal. Instead of the interaction excitement that fans usually bring, I’ve had my share of being the center of unwanted attention. The other day, I was ambushed by my friends, because out of nowhere, someone in the town square, typically a tourist, would ask, “Could you snap a photo for me?” Being with my mates, I’d oblige, only to be met with, “No, no, not with you. Just me and Big Ben.”

To give credit where it’s due, Kit Harington’s friends find this situation quite amusing, and he understands why they feel that way. However, it might not seem as funny (and could cause cold sweats) to realize that others aren’t inviting you to share in their lifetime memories, but rather using you as a means to create those memories.

Still funny for others, though, absolutely. But Harington described it with sli-i-ightly less positive language, before amusingly acknowleding that those aren’t the majority of his experiences with fans. In his words:

That’s really awkward and humiliating. But aside from that, there have been some fantastic experiences.

To capture a quick image that shows Kit Harington’s expression at the instant of realization, with perhaps a hint of puzzlement from the photographer, is what we might call an awkward yet amusing artwork, indeed!

Looking ahead, it’s intriguing to speculate whether Kit Harington will re-enter the world of George R.R. Martin’s characters and narratives in live-action format. Should this happen, it could potentially impact his future photography engagements. However, in the meantime, fans can eagerly anticipate his return on HBO for Season 3 of the corporate drama series “Industry,” premiering on Sunday, August 11, which is accessible with a Max subscription. Additionally, his werewolf horror film “The Beast Within” was released in cinemas at the end of July, so don’t miss out on that!
