Game of Thrones Ramsay Bolton Actor Iwan Rheon Reveals Surprising Fan Interactions

Game of Thrones Ramsay Bolton Actor Iwan Rheon Reveals Surprising Fan Interactions

As a hardcore fan of Game of Thrones, I can’t help but feel a mix of awe and revulsion whenever I think about Ramsay Bolton, the infamous psychopath brought to life by the brilliant Welsh actor Iwan Rheon. His chilling portrayal of the sadistic and cunning Bolton bastard left an indelible mark on the series, making him one of the most hated yet intriguing villains in the realm of Westeros.

I can’t help but recall the chilling impact Ramsay Bolton, portrayed brilliantly by Welsh actor Iwan Rheon, has left on me and countless other “Game of Thrones” fans. With every scene, Rheon masterfully infused Ramsay with an eerily psychotic tone that made for some of the most unsettling moments in the show’s history. In a recent conversation with Kevin Polowy from CBR, Rheon discussed his upcoming project on Peacock called “Those About to Die,” but what truly piqued my interest was his sharing of an unexpected reaction from dedicated “Game of Thrones” fans upon meeting him.

Ramsay Bolton was insanely cruel with a knack for deceitful schemes. Initially, he appeared as an ally to House Stark, helping them retake Winterfell from Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). However, his loyalty proved false as he eventually joined forces with the Lannisters. Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) was then compelled to marry him against her will. During his leisure time, Ramsay ruled over Winterfell by mercilessly tormenting Theon. This continued until Jon Snow made an appearance and avenged the Starks’ wrongs.

Among the unsavory figures in “Game of Thrones,” Ramsay stands out as particularly heinous, outdoing even the detested Joffrey with his unsettling brand of cruelty. Yet, astonishingly, Ramsay actor Iwan Rheon reports that fans of the show have shown him an unexpected degree of kindness. He shared this insight:

People go, ‘Yeah, I hate you, you b-stard,’ but it’s always a bit tongue in cheek.

Fans of “Game of Throns” demonstrate their maturity by distinguishing between Rheon as an actor and his character. Those less able to do so tend to avoid him. However, Rheon himself seems to relish engaging with the former group.

I assume most people recognize me as an actor. Luckily, I haven’t encountered much negativity about it. However, some people may avoid interacting with me because they might believe I am my character in real life. For instance, if you genuinely thought I was Ramsay Bolton, you probably wouldn’t approach me to chat. Engaging with someone as menacing as Ramsay Bolton is a risky proposition.

Rheon featured in just 20 episodes throughout the show, starting from season three. Yet, his presence left a lasting impact during the four seasons he graced our screens. His character is notably recognized for his harsh dealings with Sansa and the torment he inflicted on Theon, whom he renamed “Reek.” With the recent launch of the spin-off series, “House of the Dragon,” there’s been a surge in interest for the original show. However, Rheon himself has yet to catch up with it.

Rheon’s latest production on Peacock, titled “Those About to Die,” bears some resemblance to “Game of Thrones” but with a twist. This limited series is established in ancient Rome and delves into the sly dealings that surrounded the gladiator games held in the Colosseum. Rheon portrays Tenax, who ascends to prominence within the gladiator realm. He quips, “We don’t have as many dragons in our production.” He adds, “Yes, there’s a power struggle at the core of our narrative, and wealthy families are competing for dominance…but it’s rooted in history, making it an entirely distinct entity.”

As a movie buff with a deep appreciation for both historical dramas and thought-provoking television series, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about “Those About to Die,” an upcoming production that promises to deliver on all fronts. This intriguing project is the brainchild of talented writer Robert Rodat, who brought us the iconic “Saving Private Ryan.”

As a huge fan, I’m thrilled to share that you can now watch all the episodes of “Game of Thrones” on Max. On the other hand, if you’re looking for “The Sack of King’s Landing” storyline, head over to Peacock – they have every episode from that series available for streaming!
