The game show The 1% Club is getting a second season — and a bit of an overhaul.
Initially, the second season of this show will air only on Fox, having previously been available on both regular broadcast and Amazon’s streaming service, Prime Video, during its first season. Additionally, there will be a change in the hosting role, as Joel McHale replaces Patton Oswalt for the upcoming season.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that joining the “1% Club” will mark my third adventure with Fox. I currently star in their comedy series, “Animal Control,” and I’m also the host of the quirky cooking competition show, “Crime Scene Kitchen.” It’s a thrilling ride!
Joel’s exceptional comedic sense and captivating hosting skills have made him a notable figure at Fox, and we are thrilled to announce that he will be reprising his role for season two of ‘The 1% Club,'” said Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network, in a statement. “Building upon the show’s successful first year on our network, we are excited to harness Joel’s unique energy, audacity, and charm once more. We are eager to further strengthen our collaboration with Joel and continue our fruitful partnership with BBC Studios and Magnum.
McHale expressed his immense enthusiasm, stating, “I am over the moon to collaborate with Fox for hosting The 1% Club. I’m a huge fan of the show and thoroughly enjoy its gameplay to no end. I promise that my appearance, including hair, makeup, and wardrobe, will be on point at least 68% of the time.
“The 1% Club” originates from a popular British television program. In October 2023, Prime Video acquired the rights for the show, while Fox joined the production team the previous year. The majority of episodes were broadcast by Fox a day prior to their streaming on Prime Video.
Ryan O’Dowd and Krystal Whitney serve as executive producers for BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions, joined by Dean Nabarro and Andy Auerbach from Magnum Media. Wes Kauble takes on the role of the showrunner in this production.
McHale is repped by UTA, Ziffren Brittenham and Johnson Shapiro.
