Gears of War: Reloaded Modernizes the Classic Shooter, Also Coming to PlayStation 5

In preparation for the franchise’s 20th anniversary in 2026, Xbox has unveiled an updated version of the original Gears of War titled Gears of War: Remastered.

Reloaded, an enhanced version of the initial game, will be launching on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Given that Xbox has been focusing on releasing its exclusive games on Sony’s PlayStation 5, it’s no wonder that

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that this game is packed with everything you could ever want! The campaign, multiplayer, and all post-launch content are optimized for stunning 4K resolution graphics. In the campaign, you’ll experience smooth 60 frames per second, while in multiplayer, it’s a breathtaking 120 FPS. HDR support adds an extra layer of realism, and say goodbye to loading screens during the campaign! There’s even more goodness waiting for you!

Xbox unveiled some in-game images showcasing the differences in graphics and resolution between Reloaded, its latest version, the original game, and the Ultimate Edition (released in 2015 for Xbox One and PC).

The Campaign allows for two-player collaboration, while the multiplayer mode enables cross-platform interaction among all systems, without necessitating a Microsoft account.

Yet, the Xbox Wire announcement clarifies that registering using a Microsoft account allows for cross-progression, ensuring consistent statistics and advancement across all platforms where you play the game.

The game is set to release on August 26, 2025, priced at $40. Just as anticipated, members of Ultimate Game Pass and PC Game Pass can enjoy playing this game for free.

In addition, those who possess Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a complimentary upgrade, allowing them to play Reloaded at no additional cost. According to the official blog post, anyone owning the Ultimate Edition before May 5, 2025 will be entitled to the new remaster when it becomes available.
