As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation upon hearing the news that Geoff Stier is returning to Paramount Pictures. Experienced executive Geoff Stier is coming back to Paramount Pictures, taking on the role of Executive Vice President in the Production Division of their Motion Picture Group.
He comes to us from Showtime Networks, his former role being senior vice president of original programming, responsible for managing teams on productions such as “Ripley” for Netflix and the limited series “Fellow Travelers,” featuring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey, for both Showtime and Paramount+.
As someone who has worked in the film industry for several years, I can’t help but be excited about the news that Geoff Stier is returning to Paramount Pictures. With his impressive background in producing top-notch entertainment and extensive network of industry connections, he’s a valuable addition to any team. His return to Paramount is sure to bring a fresh perspective and boost the quality of their theatrical slate. From 2009 to 2017, he held the position of executive vice president of production at Paramount Pictures. During this time, he contributed to films such as “True Grit,” “World War Z,” “The Big Short,” “Daddy’s Home 1 and 2,” “Annihilation,” and “Selma.” Prior to that, he served as senior vice president of production and development at Paramount Vantage. In this role, he managed the film production for “Into the Wild,” “There Will be Blood,” “Margot at the Wedding,” and “Defiance,” among other projects.
Stier has worked in the industry with notable roles at Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella’s Mirage Enterprise, and spent six years at UCLA. During his tenure at UCLA, he contributed to creating new initiatives for the Film & Television Archive, among which was The Film Foundation, co-founded by Martin Scorsese.
Stier goes back to Paramount Pictures at a time of change, as it prepares for a takeover of its parent company Paramount Global by a Skydance-led consortium. This takeover could lead to significant restructuring within the company.
