George Clooney And Brad Pitt's Wolfs Is Already Getting A Sequel, But There's Also Some Bad News About The Crime Comedy

As a long-time fan of Hollywood blockbusters and the iconic duo that is George Clooney and Brad Pitt, I must say, the upcoming movie “Wolfs” has been a much-anticipated event on my cinematic radar. Their last joint appearance was in 2008’s “Burn After Reading,” which left me yearning for more of their on-screen chemistry. The news that they are teaming up again for “Wolfs” and its sequel has filled my heart with joy.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who played alongside each other in movies like the Ocean’s trilogy and Burn After Reading (2008), will soon appear together again on screen. This time, they are teaming up for a crime comedy titled Wolfs, set to release in September 2023. Interestingly, news about a sequel to Wolfs has emerged, although the initial film seems to have run into some issues.

To begin with some good news, Apple Original Films has revealed plans for a sequel to the movie “Wolfs,” with its creator, director, and executive producer Jon Watts returning to pen the script. In this upcoming installment, both George Clooney and Brad Pitt will reprise their roles as Jack and Nick, ensuring continuity rather than introducing new leading characters like in “Wolfs 2.” Therefore, fans of “Wolfs” who are eagerly waiting for its release this year can look forward to another exciting adventure penned by this talented team.

Originally, “Wolfs” was intended for a broad theatrical release starting from today, following its world debut at the 81st Venice Film Festival held between August 28th and September 7th. However, this plan has been altered. Instead, “Wolfs” will only have a limited theatrical release on September 20th, and it’ll be streamable with an Apple TV+ subscription starting September 27th. So, if you were looking forward to watching “Wolfs” in cinemas, you now have a smaller time frame to do so, and it’s unlikely this movie will create a significant impact at the box office.

Matt Dentler, the leader of Apple Original Film Features, issued the following statement regarding the revised launch strategy for “Wolves”:

A Wolfpack film represents a grand spectacle that underscores why Apple TV+ is a premier platform for top-tier entertainment. The captivating camaraderie between George and Brad, skillfully directed by Jon Watts, blends humor, action, and emotion seamlessly into an exhilarating cinematic experience that leaves viewers eagerly anticipating more. By initially screening the movie in theaters before its release on Apple TV+, we’re able to deliver the best of both worlds to our audience, and we can’t wait for fans to engage with the film as we collaborate with Jon on the sequel.

According to Deadline’s information, moving “Wolfs” to a limited theater release doesn’t necessarily mean that all other Apple Original movies will do the same. Instead, Apple is making these decisions individually for each project. For instance, “The Instigators,” starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, is currently having a limited theatrical run before premiering on Apple TV+ this Friday, whereas “F1,” featuring Brad Pitt, will still have a wide release on June 25, 2025, before eventually appearing on Apple TV+ at a later date.

In the movie “Wolves”, George Clooney and Brad Pitt are accompanied by Austin Abrams, Amy Ryan, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind, and Zlatko Burić. Stay tuned to TopMob for further updates on “Wolves” and information about the progress of the upcoming sequel.
