It’s officially confirmed that Season 2 of “Doctor Who,” starring [actor’s name] as The Doctor, will debut on both BBC and Disney+ on April 12, 2025. In the U.S., the new episodes will be available on Disney+ at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET on that date. In the U.K., the premiere will air on BBC and BBC iPlayer. This new series features Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, Varada Sethu playing Belinda Chandra, and Millie Gibson in the role of Ruby Sunday. Additionally, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Anita Dobson, Christopher Chung, Michelle Greenidge, Jonah Hauer-King, Ruth Madeley, Jemma Redgrave, and Susan Twist will join them on their journeys through time and space this season.

Previously, Emmy Award-winning actor Alan Cumming appeared in “Doctor Who,” portraying King James I in the episode titled “The Witchfinders.” In this upcoming season, Cumming will take on a more significant role as the cheerful and musical character, Mr. Ring-a-Ding. Set to appear in the second episode, Mr. Ring-a-Ding resides in Sunny Town alongside his friend Sunshine Sally. However, an unexpected event occurs in 1952 when, after decades of screenings in cinemas nationwide, Mr. Ring-a-Ding discovers the real world beyond the screen, leading to a chilling realization. “Doctor Who” executive producer Russell T. Davies has expressed high praise for Alan Cumming.

After whispers from backstage, it appears that Ncuti Gatwa may be considering leaving the legendary role, and it’s been suggested that Doctor Who might be paused indefinitely. So far, there’s no confirmation about a third season. An anonymous source hinted, “It seems the BBC plans to postpone the series for at least five years. The team was advised not to expect work on the show for at least ten years. As we seek new opportunities, those in charge can move on to other lucrative ventures without consequences. Production ended last Friday with no ceremony or celebration.
Contrary to earlier reports, BBC clarified that the story about ‘Doctor Who’ being cancelled is false. They explained that no decision has been made about season 3 yet, it will be decided post-season 2 broadcast. The agreement with Disney+ includes 26 episodes, and only half have aired so far. Regarding further episodes and future plotlines involving ‘The Doctor’, the BBC typically does not comment on such matters.
