As a child, I distinctly remember watching “Monsters, Inc.” and being captivated by the excitement of the rapid door sequence. Specifically, I’m referring to the part where Sully, Mike, and Boo desperately search for Boo’s door within the factory vault, clinging onto various doors as they swiftly race through the facility. Excitingly, a roller coaster inspired by this iconic scene from “Monsters, Inc.” is one of the upcoming attractions at Walt Disney World, and we now have a sneak peek!
During last year’s D23 event for Walt Disney World, it was revealed that Monstropolis would be making its way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. This exciting development will feature a heart-pounding roller coaster ride that takes you through the door vault. Here’s a sneak peek at the vertical lift marking the start of the journey on Disney Park’s inaugural suspended coaster:

This past Saturday, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter and Imagineer Michael Hundgen teamed up for a panel discussion titled “The Future of World-Building at Disney” during SXSW. As part of their presentation, they unveiled a video to attendees, offering the first sneak peek at the upcoming ride that will be constructed later this year, exciting Disney enthusiasts everywhere.
Initially, I got excited last year when I learned that the ride I’ve long desired at Disney Parks was being created. Now, envisioning myself soaring through the air with my feet swinging freely, I must confess that my fearful side is starting to emerge. Here’s the earlier concept art that was unveiled:

As a movie buff, I can confidently say that I’d happily queue up for Disney World’s newest ride if given the chance. After all, I’ve always trusted their knack for creating magical experiences. The vertical lift at the start of this adventure, though? It stirs a mix of anticipation and apprehension in me – it’s going to be an exhilarating ride, that much is clear!
Among all Pixar films spanning over three decades, for me personally, “Monsters, Inc.” stands tall. The idea that I, along with countless Disney enthusiasts, will soon have the opportunity to roam around the fantastically inventive city of Monstropolis is nothing short of spectacular. Here’s another glimpse at the concept art that surfaced when the land was first unveiled:

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has revealed their intention to shut down parts of the park in May and June for the commencement of Monstropolis and a new roller coaster project. Consequently, it is imminent that we must bid farewell to one of our cherished attractions. Muppet Vision 3D will officially cease operation on June 7, 2025, marking the end of its 33-year run in the parks.
I’m eagerly anticipating the day when I can listen to the Monsters, Inc. voice actors on the upcoming coaster, and I hope it will take us through different locations that Mike, Sully, and Boo visit in their search for Boo’s door. In the meantime, you can enjoy the entire Monsters, Inc. series on Disney+.
