, is now aiming for a release on a popular streaming platform. After the triumph of “Venom” in 2018 and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” in 2021, the final chapter of the Tom Hardy-led trilogy, titled “Venom: The Last Dance“, is ready to hit screens. Directed by Kelly Marcel, this comic book movie sequel features an impressive cast including Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham. The story follows Eddie Brock (Hardy) and Venom as they go into hiding. “Venom: The Last Dance is slated to debut on Netflix on February 25, and you can read the official summary below“.
In the concluding chapter of “Venom: The Last Dance,” actor Tom Hardy reprises his role as the enigmatic Venom, one of Marvel’s most intricate characters. Fugitives from both their realms, Eddie and Venom find themselves cornered with no escape in sight. With time running out, they are compelled to make a heart-wrenching choice that will signal the end of Venom and Eddie’s final journey together.
The ‘Venom’ Franchise Has Been Hugely Divisive
The controversial Spider-Man spin-off universe initiated by Sony dates back to 2018 with the release of Venom. In this film, Tom Hardy portrays the Marvel character who transitions from being an investigative journalist into a hybrid of a human and a symbiotic alien, possessing deadly powers unintentionally. Despite a mix of positive and negative reviews, the initial Venom release was highly profitable, raking in $856 million at the global box office.
Consequently, a follow-up film titled “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” hit the screens in 2021. This film, orchestrated by Andy Serkis, brings back fans with Brock and his cosmic companion, Venom. As a journalist, Brock endeavors to revitalize his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who subsequently hosts an alien symbiote known as Carnage. Similar to the original, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” received varied opinions from critics but was once again appreciated by viewers, earning approximately $506 million globally and ranking as the seventh highest-grossing movie of the year.
Regrettably, even though Hardy’s dedication to the captivating Jekyll-and-Hyde characters and the incorporation of cherished Marvel figures are evident in Venom: The Last Dance , this latest installment has followed the disappointing trend that the Venom franchise has been experiencing. With a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s aligned with the first Venom’s 30% and Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s 57%. However, while critics have given it a negative consensus, the Venom series has proven to be quite divisive among audiences. They bestowed the first Venom with an 80%, the sequel with 84%, and Venom: The Last Dance with another 80%. It seems that perhaps the critics are overlooking something? Fortunately, they’ll have a chance to revisit the film and reassess their initial thoughts when Venom: The Last Dance arrives on Netflix later this month.
