Ghosts Season 5: Will Vampires and Other Creatures Join the Fun?

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Ghosts season 4 finale.

In Woodstone Manor, the ghostly inhabitants are consistently coming up with fresh ways to maintain an intriguing atmosphere. The main ghostly crew is always stirring up trouble, but what sets this show apart is its clever utilization of secondary ghost characters. For instance, in the fourth season’s premiere, Puritan Patience caused chaos, and ’80s Prom ghost Stephanie made occasional appearances throughout the seasons. Chris, who had a fondness for dinosaurs and was a stripper, graced our screens briefly, and I eagerly anticipate seeing more of Joan, Sass’s girlfriend, in the upcoming fifth season of Ghosts.

Since the popular show “Ghosts” has been renewed for seasons 5 and 6, it’s clear that the creators are brainstorming ways to keep the story engaging given its theme-centric constraints. One wise move they’ve made is steering clear of the highest stakes – draining one of the ghosts, an option that would detract from the ensemble’s unique charm, which is a key strength of “Ghosts”. Instead of removing elements, the show prefers to add more. The final episode of season 4 hinted at a fascinating concept I hope they explore further: introducing various supernatural beings into the series.

Ghosts Season 4 Finale Definitely Floated The Idea That Vampires Might Exist In The World

Trevor’s Quip Lays The Groundwork To Introduce Vampires To A World That Already Has Spirits

Sam and Isaac have reached the point where they’re preparing to release their book. Since there aren’t any reliable sources for verifying Isaac’s personal story as a biography, they choose to transform him into “Higgintooth the Vampire” instead. This change of heart helps them find a publisher. As Patience the Puritan ghost attends the book launch event, she senses an ominous presence and calls the idea of a vampire “wicked.” Trevor humorously counters by saying, “We’re ghosts, so let’s not judge,” which may hint at the introduction of other supernatural entities in the Ghosts universe.

Ghosts & Their Powers In CBS’ Ghosts
Ghost Name Period/Occupation Power
Pete Martino Travel agent & Pinecone Troop leader Can leave the property at will (but not indefinitely)
Trevor Lefkowitz Stockbroker Can move material objects with great effort
Sasappis Lenape Native (1500s) Entering Livings’ dreams
Thorfinn Viking Harnessing electricity
Flower Hippie Makes Livings high if they pass through her
Henrietta “Hetty” Woodstone Gilded Age socialite & Lady of the Manor Be seen by all Livings on St. Patrick’s Day
Alberta Haynes Prohibition lounge singer Project a humming/singing sound
Isaac Higgintoot Revolutionary War captain Gives off a foul smell if a living passes through him

It’s plausible that if most people can’t perceive or interact with ghosts, there might be other hidden beings in our world, provided Sam pays close attention. In truth, Patience was picking up on more than just Elias Woodstone’s book launch at the party; she served as a representative of the Devil, an aspect that wasn’t immediately apparent to everyone. While Patience’s instincts were generally correct, her assumption about deviled eggs was mistaken – they weren’t actually eggs from the devil, but rather seasoned with paprika instead of innocent blood as she had imagined.

Ghosts Routinely Adds To The Lore To Expand The World

Spirits Discover Their New Powers Every Season & They’ve Already Met A Poltergeist

Over time, Ghosts has gradually expanded its folklore, so it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine introducing a brand new type of spectral entity. In the third season of Ghosts, episode 7, the spirits encountered a poltergeist – a kind of ghost that clings to a person rather than a place. Similarly, Pete discovered his ability to roam freely after being deceased for many decades, and within just one season, the show introduced Joan, another roamer, as well as Chris, a spectral being with no boundaries while airborne.

The series “Ghosts” skillfully navigates a delicate boundary, enriching its narrative with fresh lore without overwhelming viewers with excessive explanations of its supernatural aspects – a feat crucial for any supernatural television production. The critically acclaimed sitcom “What We Do in the Shadows” serves as an ideal model, centering on the primary vampire group while humorously incorporating characters like werewolves. To maintain a vibrant and diverse feel within its narrative, “Ghosts” plans to introduce various entities if the ghostly inhabitants can’t depart Woodstone Manor, ensuring an ever-evolving and engaging viewing experience.

How Other Creatures Could Be Used In Ghosts Season 5

Other Species Might Have An Insight Into How To Save Jay’s Soul

In Woodstone Manor, ghosts remain confined to their usual surroundings, but other mythical creatures could potentially visit. A humorous scenario would be welcoming vampires as guests at a bed and breakfast, given that they can only enter if invited – an intriguing twist for Jay, who often feels excluded in the haunted setting of Woodstone Manor, despite his justified complaint; he might even start to miss the tranquility.

In their travels, Pete and Joan might find it logical to inform otherworldly beings about a lodging place run by hosts open to the extraordinary. It could stretch credulity if these beings were invisible to all but Sam, but they’d likely prefer a spot where they don’t have to conceal their nature as much.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but ponder the exciting possibilities that could unfold if another species were introduced for a comedic twist. However, there’s also a rich narrative potential brewing from the Ghosts season 4 cliffhanger. Given some of these entities are said to be undead, they might possess unique insights into the afterlife, potentially shedding light on how to rescue Jay from Elias Woodstone’s grasp in the upcoming season 5 of Ghosts.
