Glen Powell at Center of Bidding War Over Erotic Thriller ‘Homewreckers’ (Exclusive)

As a die-hard movie enthusiast who’s been around the block more times than I care to admit, let me tell you, the buzz surrounding Glen Powell is reaching fever pitch! The man’s on fire, and not just because of those twisters he was dodging in his latest blockbuster.

It’s shaping up to be the last big bidding war of 2024. And it features Glen Powell.

The performer is set to both act in and produce the film titled “Homewreckers,” which blends elements of erotic thrillers with science fiction. This intriguing short narrative has sparked considerable interest among multiple production studios and companies.

Notable studios such as Legendary, Lionsgate, New Regency, Sony, and Warner Bros. have put forth proposals and are currently in contention for the project that was introduced to industry insiders at the start of the week.

The as-yet unreleased three-chapter narrative is penned by Neil M. Paik, who is also slated to pen the screenplay. While specifics are under wraps for now, it’s rumored that the style will blend elements reminiscent of Adrian Lyne, known for his steamy thrillers like “9½ Weeks” and “Fatal Attraction,” and Alex Garland, whose works such as “Ex Machina” and “Annihilation” reflect contemporary apprehensions.

This year, the number of exciting new movies released in Hollywood after Thanksgiving has been relatively low, but “Homewreckers” has certainly provided a refreshing boost.

Man, I’ve had quite an incredible ride this year! Last December, my comedy flick Anyone But You with Sydney Sweeney hit the screens and turned out to be a massive box office hit, catapulting me into the big leagues as a male actor. My romantic-comedy thriller Hit Man, where I also co-wrote and produced, garnered great reviews and even scored me a Golden Globe nomination just this week! Not to mention, I was the lead in Twisters, Universal’s modern take on the ’90s tornado movie. It was a smash hit with summer audiences, raking in over $370 million globally and over $267 million domestically. To top it all off, I’ve been the face of this new wave of Hollywood stars and the revival of the cinematic experience. What a year!

The situation with the actor conclusively wraps up the year that Powell was sought after, making it a case of “Anyone but You, Glen?” rather more fittingly put as “Nobody but You.

Paik excels at transforming his short stories into sought-after productions; one such example is “Reawakening,” which was published by Six by Eight Press and secured as a series on Amazon with Lena Waithe serving as executive producer, following a bidding war. Similarly, another of his short stories, titled “Rainbowfish,” found a home at Warner Bros.

Powell is repped by CAA and Johnson Shapiro. Paik is repped by Untitled Entertainment.
