As a long-time admirer of Hollywood heartthrobs, I must admit that this season has been particularly exciting for me. The surge of look-alike contests has not only added a fun twist to celebrity culture but also brought us closer to our favorite stars in an unexpected way. The latest contest, featuring the charismatic Glen Powell, took the cake!
This autumn has been filled with doppelganger competitions kicking off around Halloween in NYC featuring Timothée Chalamet, followed by events in Ireland, England, and across the US. The latest event was dedicated to Twisters alumnus and Texan native Glen Powell. With a stacked list of major roles lined up for 2024 movies, Powell graced this likeness contest with an exceptional prize, which could elevate the current competition and potentially future ones as well.
Despite these events being commonplace, it’s exciting to witness the recent surge in popularity for the doppelganger competitions. Yesterday, on November 24th, the “Anyone but You” actor Glen Powell’s event took place, and his mother was present. Remarkably, the initial prize included the approval of the matriarch.
As reported by Fox 7 Austin, the victor was awarded $5, a cowboy hat, a year’s supply of free queso from a local restaurant, and a thumbs-up from mama Powell. Later on, the actual actor posted a video, where he announced that the winner’s parents or someone close to them could receive a cameo role in one of his future movies – as he put it himself.
Although there’s some money and a hat involved in this competition, I simply wanted to express that the victor will receive a unique gift from me – something special just for them. Now, you might be aware that my parents appear in every film I produce, but here’s an exciting twist: The winner of today’s Glen Powell doppelganger contest gets to have any family member they choose featured in my upcoming movie, just like my parents!
His announcement undoubtedly shifts the dynamics of future celebrity doppelganger competitions! Although it may not establish an official precedent, it’s quite charming how he’s giving back to his home state, which definitely boosts my admiration for him. Considering Glen Powell’s impressive acting resume, there’s a chance that the winner’s family could land significant roles in future projects. As for the Running Man remake, it might be too late now, but who knows? There could still be an opportunity!
It’s equally thrilling to note that Glen Powell is keeping busy with several upcoming projects! He’s scheduled to star in “Chad Powers,” a football comedy on TV for 2025, and also in “The Running Man” due out as part of the 2025 movie lineup. Contrary to some rumors, he has playfully dismissed any plans to replace Tom Cruise in the Mission: Impossible series.
