Glen Powell’s ‘Running Man’ Remake Lands 2025 Release Date as ‘Naked Gun’ Reboot Shifts Back

As a film enthusiast with decades of cinematic adventures under my belt, I must say, this news has my heart racing! The upcoming slate of releases is nothing short of a dream come true for any movie fan.


Paramount Studios has revealed several upcoming movie launch dates, and among them is the new version of “The Running Man” starring Glen Powell, which is set to hit cinemas soon in the following year.

Edgar Wright directs the upcoming film titled “The Running Man,” scheduled to hit theaters on November 21, 2025. This modern adaptation of the 1987 science fiction movie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger is produced by Edgar Wright, Simon Kinberg, and Nira Park.

The titleless remake of “The Naked Gun” will now premiere in cinemas on August 1, 2025, previously set for July 18, 2025. Akiva Schaffer is directing the comedy, produced by Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins. Liam Neeson takes on the role of Detective Frank Drebin, a character originally portrayed by Leslie Nielsen in the movie series that began with the first film in 1988. Pamela Anderson and Paul Walter Hauser join Neeson in this new production.

A Chris Miller-directed Smurfs animated musical movie, initially slated for a Valentine’s Day release on February 14, 2025, has now been set to premiere on July 18, 2025 – the same date previously assigned to the Naked Gun. This film is based on the creations and art of Peyo and features an impressive voice cast that includes Rihanna, Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, and Kurt Russell.

In an exciting turn of events, the Smurfs project will go head-to-head with the reboot of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” both scheduled for July 18, 2025.

The movie titled “Vicious,” starring Dakota Fanning, has been moved forward to February 28, 2025. Originally, director Bryan Bertino’s horror flick was scheduled for a theater release on August 8, 2025, but the date has been adjusted.

Moreover, the critically acclaimed film titled “September 5” is set to premiere in selected theaters on November 29, 2024, with a wider release scheduled for December 13. Previously, The Hollywood Reporter had announced this rollout plan for Tim Felhbaum’s historical drama depicting the 1972 Munich Olympics terrorist attack. Peter Sarsgaard leads the cast of this production, which is produced by Philipp Trauer, Thomas Wöbke, Tim Fehlbaum, Sean Penn, John Ira Palmer, and John Wildermuth.
