- Smooth feeling cube to sort
- Lots of mini-games
- Instructions to teach you how to solve a cube
Regarding Rubik’s cubes, I’m not familiar with the steps to solve them. They seem like a classic toy that every kid receives at some point, but if your parents don’t know how to solve it, it essentially becomes an inoperable plaything. The GoCube, on the other hand, merges technology with a tangible cube. This dual-purpose device can instruct you on how to solve cubes and function as a controller for various mini-games when played.
GoCube Itself
Upon unboxing the GoCube, I naturally began to rotate it. The cube carries a substantial weight and offers a satisfying slide feel. I must admit, its smooth rotation was quite delightful! Interestingly, there’s an X-shaped array of tiny dots at the center of the yellow side, which serves as the charging port for the cube.
The provided charger fits into these slots, subsequently connecting via USB to recharge. I was unable to charge it using my computer and had to connect it to a wall outlet to make the cube light up and start charging. The GoCube additionally includes a stand for convenient charging while in use, as well as a small bag to carry both the cube and charger for portable convenience.
The GoCube App first has you sync your cube, which is quite simple. From there, you can then select if you are a total cube-solving noob or someone who actually knows what they are doing. If you are clueless like me, the app then takes you through a few tutorials that show you what different letters mean and how to move and unsolve the cube.
GoCube Mini-Games
Regardless of how solved your GoCube is, you can play a bunch of different mini-games. Simon Says is done in a way that allows you to practice the annotation that you need to learn to battle others and the rhythm game has very interesting visuals to where to move the cube. I think these mini-games are a good addition and give you a bit of a break from solving your cube and instead focus on your cube being an interesting controller. There are a bunch of different levels to unlock, providing a lot of content.
