The team behind the scenes had already gone through a major change for Season 3, as executive producer and co-showrunner Douglas Mackinnon confirmed on Instagram that he has “moved on front Good Omens” and had “no information regarding the status of [Season] 3.”

Neil Gaiman Offered To Step Down Over Misconduct Accusations

Following the announcement that production for Season 3 had stopped, Deadline shares that Neil Gaiman has proposed to relinquish his role on Good Omens. This move could mark a substantial change, given that he authored the original novel with the late Terry Pratchett, penned or co-wrote each episode in the first two seasons, and held positions as executive producer and co-showrunner.

As stated by the source, Gaiman proposed stepping aside from Amazon and other series producers, aiming to keep production moving instead of being halted. It’s important to note that this offer does not imply any acceptance or acknowledgment of the accusations of sexual misconduct.

Although it was rumored that Amazon might take up the offer back in early September, no such decision has been made public as of now. As for the production of this series, it remains in its initial stages before cameras roll. Initially, filming was scheduled to start in Scotland come January 2025.

A conversation they had approximately 35 years ago regarding the future of Crowley and Aziraphale, as envisioned by Gaiman himself. Earlier, he mentioned that the main challenge in adapting the ‘Good Omens’ book was dealing with Terry Pratchett’s absence from our world.
