Gotta Google ‘Em All With This Neat Pokémon Search Functionality

Now, you can collect a variety of them (Pokemon) through Google, not every single one, but you can record the first 151 in your special Pokédex by conducting searches with Google.

Via social media posts, it was announced that the official Pokémon account has teamed up with Google to introduce an innovative feature. This feature allows you to search for all the classic creatures from the Kanto region directly through your browser’s search function and then save them in a digital Pokédex.

It seems that nobody can definitively explain why this was included. As for its function beyond passing the time, there doesn’t appear to be one. However, it certainly provides an amusing and adorable diversion, perhaps ideal for those lengthy journeys.

How To Catch Pokémon With Google Search

Try out this new feature by launching the Google Search app on your smartphone, either an Android or iOS device. After that, just tap the name of any Pokémon from the original 151 creatures found in the Kanto region.

After completing the task, a tiny Pokeball will show up at the lower right corner of your picture. By clicking on it, you can capture the Pokemon you searched for, thus adding it to your personal collection.

It appears that this function can only be accessed by mobile device users. Attempts made from a desktop computer’s web browser were unsuccessful.

What If It’s Not Working For You?

It seems like this particular feature may not function for you. The problem could stem from the specific settings of your Google account. Ensure that personalized options are activated in your Google settings to avoid any issues.

To activate personalized search options, click on your account picture situated at the upper right corner of the screen. Then, navigate to settings and you’ll find the toggle for this feature at the top of the settings menu. If it’s already enabled, your device might not be compatible with this option.

It appears this could be an entertaining pastime for Pokémon enthusiasts. For more substantial updates, consider exploring the rumors about Generation 10 only being available on the Switch 2.
