As a fashion enthusiast with an eye for innovation and a heart for emerging talent, I find myself absolutely captivated by Grace Ling‘s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, “Neanderthal.” The blend of sensuality, surrealism, and cutting-edge technology in her designs is nothing short of extraordinary.

Grace Ling solidified her position as a promising talent by introducing collections that challenge traditional tailoring and knitwear concepts. Her brand skillfully combines sensuality with surrealism, employing 3D technology to generate intricate structures – this avant-garde design philosophy is what earned her a place among the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund finalists.

For our Spring/Summer 2025 line, “Neanderthal,” we’ve breathed life into the concept using elegant dresses that appear as if caught in a breeze, flowing skirts, and bold metal mini dresses and bodices. Ling aimed to explore the intricate bond between humans and the environments we inhabit, whether they are vast, untouched landscapes or bustling cities.

As I stepped into this gaming world, my eyes were immediately drawn to the ominous black, volcanic landscape before me, shrouded in a chilling fog that seemed to swallow everything it touched. Models strutted down the runway amidst this surreal scene, creating quite the spectacle. Meanwhile, the towering skyline of New York City offered a stark contrast, adding an extra layer of intrigue to this ethereal setting.

In the SS25 collection, the muted, versatile color scheme put emphasis on the shapes of each garment. Each ensemble showcased some of Grace Ling’s signature traits: structured lines, hints of sensual draping, and innovative details like a metal dress entirely 3D-printed, resembling a bird’s nest made of barbed wire. However, for this collection, Ling presented a fresh take on femininity: femininity as strength. This dichotomy mirrored the contrasting aspects of each design – although they may appear worn or rugged initially, Ling’s impeccable craftsmanship becomes evident.
