Gracie Lawrence has joined the Broadway cast of new musical Just in Time.
Lawrence, a band member known as Lawrence and recently added to the cast of “The Sex Lives of College Girls”, will be sharing the screen with previously confirmed actor Jonathan Groff, portraying the role of singer Bobby Darrin. Emily Bergl, who was last seen on Broadway in “Good Night, Oscar”, has also been cast in the series.
The play will begin its preview performances at the Circle in the Square Theatre on March 2, with the official premiere set for April 23.
This performance will debut the musical that has been created and led by Alex Timbers, with a script penned by Warren Leight (of “Side Man” fame) and Isaac Oliver (“Intimacy Idiot”). The dance sequences are masterminded by Shannon Lewis. The play centers around Darrin, the renowned singer-songwriter recognized for hits such as “Beyond the Sea,” “Mack the Knife,” “Splish Splash” and others, with a live big band accompanying the action on stage.
I’m thrilled to be part of this star-studded ensemble! We have Michele Pawk, who stole the show in “Wicked,” Joe Barbara from “A Bronx Tale The Musical,” Lance Roberts known for his performance in “The Music Man,” Caesar Samayoa from “Come From Away,” Christine Cornish, who brought “Kiss Me, Kate” to life, Julia Grondin of “Funny Girl,” Valeria Yamin from “Moulin Rouge!,” John Treacy Egan of “My Fair Lady,” Tari Kelly who shone in “Mr. Saturday Night,” Matt Magnusson of “A Wonderful World,” Khori Michelle Petinaud, a standout in “Lempicka,” and Larkin Reilly from “Bad Cinderella.” I can’t wait to share the stage with such talented artists!
Gracie serves as a co-leader for the soul-pop band Lawrence, renowned for hits like “Don’t Lose Sight” and having had the opportunity to open for The Rolling Stones, the Jonas Brothers during their North American tour, and various international festivals and performances. Previously, she graced the stage of Broadway in the 2009 revival of “Brighton Beach Memoirs.
In this production, scenic design is handled by Derek McLane, costumes are designed by Catherine Zuber, Justin Townsend takes care of the lighting, and Peter Hylenski is responsible for the sound design.
