Gram Chikitsalay: Did you know Amol Parashar and Vinay Pathak’s picturesque Bhatkandi village was actually filmed in THIS state?

The new streaming series on Amazon Prime Video, titled Gram Chikitsalaya, is now available for viewing, providing an exclusive look at the healthcare system in rural areas. This captivating show, set in a fictional village called Bhatkandi, skillfully combines humor with insightful observations, depicting the difficulties encountered by doctors and the complex societal interactions within village communities. It is worth mentioning that the entire series was shot on location in Chhattisgarh over 27 days, with four days spent in Bemetara, one day in Raipur, and only a single day of filming in Mumbai.

In October 2024, according to reports from NDTV, the team behind the web series Gram Chikitsalaya traveled to Chhattisgarh and had a meeting with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

During this visit, Chief Minister Sai officially launched the project with a symbolic clap for the starting shot. Director Deepak Kumar Mishra and his crew briefed the Chief Minister about their notable previous work, such as the highly praised series Panchayat. They also discussed their intentions to commence filming Gram Chikitsalaya in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister cordially greeted the team and expressed hope for their success. During his conversation with the crew, CM Sai underscored the ongoing initiatives of his administration aimed at boosting movie-making within the state.

He emphasized projects under the fresh movie policy that aim to entice filmmakers and make Chhattisgarh a significant location for filming. Additionally, he discussed proposals for building a specialized film city within the state, which would not only serve as a stage for local artists but also create numerous job openings.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my thoughts about Gram Chikitsalay. It may not break new ground, but it’s an authentic and subtly influential series that illuminates the hurdles faced in rural healthcare within India. Though it shares similar tones and structures with Panchayat, it offers a refreshing viewpoint by delving into the medical aspects of village existence.

At Gram Healthcare Clinic, Amol Parashar assumes the role of Dr. Prabhat, a skilled physician who is cautious in the face of rural healthcare’s complexities. Alongside him steps Vinay Pathak, playing a character from the local government.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to be part of this enthusiastic crowd, eagerly anticipating the arrival of “Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor,” “Anandeshwar Dwivedi,” “Akash Makhija,” and “Garima Vikrant Singh” on our screens. These talented individuals will grace us with their performances in significant roles. The mastermind behind this series is the esteemed director, Rahul Pandey, who has skillfully guided the project. Deepak Kumar Mishra, a production titan, stands alongside him, ensuring the smooth execution of this ambitious venture. Lastly, the screenplay, an essential element, has been brilliantly crafted by the gifted duo, Vaibhav Suman and Shreya Srivastava. I can hardly wait to see the magic they will weave!
