GTA V Editor Officially Reveals Why Rockstar Killed Story DLC

Ahoy, fellow GTA V enthusiasts! As a longtime devotee of this magnificent masterpiece, I must confess that the lack of single-player DLC has been a bitter pill to swallow. Having spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of Los Santos and Blaine County, the prospect of delving further into its captivating narrative was a tantalizing one.

As a dedicated GTA V gamer, I’m bummed out that we haven’t received any new single-player story DLC yet. One of the game’s editors recently explained why Rockstar Games chose not to pursue this project further. While I can’t speak for everyone, my guess is that it had something to do with the immense resources required to create such high-quality content and the team’s focus on other projects.

Joseph Rubino, who has been employed at Rockstar Games for six years, disclosed to SanInPlay that the absence of single-player DLC for GTA can be attributed to GTA Online’s massive success. With the surge in popularity of the online game, Rubino and other developers faced challenges in persuading Rockstar to focus on this particular project instead.

Initially, when Grand Theft Auto Online was launched, it became such a financial success and gained so much popularity that suggesting a standalone DLC to outperform it seemed challenging, Rubino disclosed. Reflecting on it now, I believe they could have produced both, but that was a business choice they made at the time.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but marvel at the enduring popularity of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V). I’m one of the many fans who continue to immerse myself in its captivating single-player campaign. There’s a good reason why Rockstar Games saw fit to re-release this gem for two different console generations. Sure, they could have simply given us an updated version of GTA Online, but the campaign remains a cornerstone of the overall experience.

It’s unfortunate that Rockstar didn’t release extra story DLC for the impressive single-player game, as there is obviously a strong fan base eager for more content. Although it may not have matched the success of GTA Online, the DLC would likely have generated solid sales. The persisting requests from fans are proof of this demand.

Currently, supporters have the option to buy Grand Theft Auto V for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Those uninterested in online multiplayer will find enjoyment in the expansive open-world and captivating narrative. It serves as a suitable pastime until Grand Theft Auto 6 becomes available on current-generation consoles.
