As a dedicated OpTic fan, I am beyond elated that my beloved team has once again brought home the Call of Duty World Championship trophy. The excitement and energy surrounding this victory are indescribable. However, I cannot ignore the disturbing incidents that marred the event.
Optic Texas has earned its second title as World Champions in Call of Duty, making it only the second organization to claim multiple championship titles in this game.
After enduring years of hardship and going through a turbulent month, the revitalized team triumphantly lifted the Call of Duty League trophy.
As a dedicated gamer following OpTic, I’ve noticed that their “home” crowd hasn’t been celebrated in the same way as their renowned roster this year during Champs. And to make things worse, OpTic CEO Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez criticized the Green Wall for body-shaming their former coach Troy “Sender” Michaels prior to the game. It’s unfortunate and disappointing to see such behavior from a fanbase that prides itself on being supportive and inclusive.
OpTic Texas fans called out for racist and sizeist comments during World Championships
While watching the recordings of the event, I came across these remarks in a video. The person who made those comments should reflect on their actions – we need to do better as a community.

At the World Championship Grand Final, the teams made their way to the stage with the crowd surrounding them in a full circle setup, which was an innovation for a Call of Duty competition after a long period.
However, the walkouts didn’t live up to their impressive façade. The New York Subliners faced harsh criticism from OpTic’s devoted fanbase as they made their way to the stage, aiming for a historic back-to-back Call of Duty championship victory – an accomplishment no team has achieved before in the game’s history.
Newly surfaced videos show some OpTic Gaming fans behaving poorly during the walkouts, with one individual loudly taunting Sender, using offensive language such as “You disgusting pig, I hate you.”
During the walk-out, some fans alleged that there were other disrespectful remarks directed at the New York Subliners team, specifically towards Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez, due to his French heritage.
The photographer (Viragophotos) from the crowd remarked, “This wasn’t even the most disturbing thing I heard among the crowd.”
She shared her experience of enduring hurtful remarks from some people, who used offensive language and insulted others’ appearances while demanding country of origin, only to request a photo with them later.
He remarked that only those with strong mental fortitude wouldn’t be affected by such comments.
“Some people have no respect and it felt like that sort of behaviour was being neglected.”
H3CZ demands ‘unacceptable’ OpTic fans to ‘do better’
After the popular video went viral, Optic H3Cz expressed his disappointment towards a small group of Optic supporters. On Twitter, he urged them to “improve their actions” instead. “This is not acceptable,” he added.
“I’m not engaging in banter here, I find what you’re saying about Troy truly disrespectful. He’s my friend, and your words make me angry. Please improve your behavior towards him.”
The Head Coach of OpTic, Sender, clinched victories in several competitions, such as the 2022 Major I and some Home Series events, while leading his team under the Chicago Huntsmen name during the first CDL season. However, this wasn’t the only contentious issue that arose; CDL spectators were arrested for brawling over the weekend.
