- Haegin are bringing their hit social gaming platform Play Together to Steam
- You can now enjoy it both on mobile and desktop with cross-play between the two
- Why’s this happening now? I’ve got a few guesses
Today, as we scanned through the latest news updates, it caught our eye that Haegin has made an intriguing move: they’re launching their social gaming platform, Play Together, on Steam. This is now live, boasting cross-play compatibility with its mobile version. I’ve got a few theories about why they chose to do this.
For those new to it, Play Together lets you design your personal character to traverse Kaia Island. You can engage with others, participate in mini-games, and customize your own player residence. It’s been available on mobile devices for some time, but the PC version might be an effort to expand its reach a bit more.
If I were to make an educated assumption, it seems like the next step would be to attract more players. It’s worth noting that Play Together shares many characteristics with numerous games available on Roblox. However, while Play Together has successfully engaged a mobile userbase, the desktop platform remains unexplored.
Stay together
Despite often being recognized for its numerous in-game events and updates, with more than 200 million downloads, it’s undeniably popular. Haegin is working hard to attract a larger audience on Steam, although I believe it won’t attain the same level of success it has on mobile devices. They are offering account linking rewards and special events for this purpose.
However, it’s not just about that, since we frequently emphasize that one major advantage of mobile ports to desktop is the implementation of crossplay, which allows players like us who use multiple platforms to continue playing. Therefore, whether desktop versions will extend playtime remains to be observed.
While there is still much more to explore, why not use your downtime from Play Together for something exciting? Take advantage of our recurring feature, “Ahead of the Game,” and be among the first to learn about upcoming releases.
