Halle Berry Has One Response to ‘Catwoman’ Critics Who Say 2004 Movie “Sucked Balls”

As a long-time fan of Halle Berry, it’s heartening to see her unapologetic spirit and resilience shine through even after two decades. Her ability to laugh at criticism, especially the infamous “balls” comment, showcases her unique charm and charisma that have made her a beloved figure in Hollywood.

Halle Berry is clapping back at critics of Catwoman amid the 20th anniversary of the 2004 film.

In a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show”, the Academy Award recipient expressed admiration for the controversial superhero film, which had received unfavorable criticisms. Notably, this movie was also responsible for Halle Berry receiving the Razzie award for worst actress of the year.

She shared with host Jimmy Fallon, “I truly enjoyed it,” though others criticized it, calling it poor quality. Yet, she added humorously, “Even if critics say it’s not great, balls aren’t really that terrible.”

Berry went on to say, “I’m thrilled that the kids have discovered it online and they adore it. It feels incredibly validating because now they think it’s awesome, and they wonder what everyone was complaining about it for. So, in a way, I feel like I’m really ‘on trend’ with Charli XCX’s brat summer trend.”

Later on, Fallon affectionately labeled the actress as “Troublemaker,” and inquired whether she might consider playing the character again in a future film. Berry hesitated, saying, “Possibly,” but only under the condition that she would be allowed to take charge as the director.

Previously, Berry expressed her desire to remake the movie ‘Catwoman’ in 2021, mentioning to Jake Hamilton that she would love to have the chance to “reshape and re-create Catwoman” using the skills she gained from directing her first feature film, ‘Bruised’, which was released in 2020.

“The actress expressed that she’d like to reimagine Catwoman’s storyline in a way similar to many male superheroes, going beyond just rescuing women from predicaments. She suggested amplifying the scale of the conflict and making it more relatable to all genders.”

Berry recently confessed to Entertainment Weekly last month that the unfavorable media coverage about the film directed by Pitof had an impact on her, as she was unfairly held responsible for its perceived “shortcomings.”

She expressed that she wasn’t fond of the criticism, “I didn’t take pleasure in it.” As a Black woman, she’s accustomed to bearing burdens and battling adversity, often feeling like an upstream-swimming fish on her own. A minor controversy about a film wasn’t something she enjoyed, but it wouldn’t hinder her life or prevent her from pursuing her passions.
