Halle Berry’s Stunning Corset Dress Sparks Wardrobe Malfunction at Cannes!

Despite Cannes’ somewhat strict dress code in 2025, Halle Berry has dazzled on the French Riviera with a series of stunning outfits. This year, she concluded her role as a film festival juror by donning a beautiful cream gown, which unfortunately experienced a minor wardrobe issue during an encounter with fellow actress Juliette Binoche. The silver lining? It was the same red corset dress that had left quite an impression earlier in the event.

The Beading On Juliette Binoche’s Dress Caught On Berry’s Fluffier Lace Dress

In case you witnessed Berry’s last walk on the red carpet at Cannes, you might have admired her stunning creamy outfit and found yourself wondering: How could this be prone to a wardrobe mishap? Despite the fact that the maxi dress had some sheer areas due to inconsistent lace appliqué coverage throughout, this wasn’t the real issue.

Instead, it was the fabric of the dress that caused the problem. When Berry leaned in to take a photo with this year’s President of Feature Films, her dress caught on Binoche’s beading, giving the appearance that they were embracing, but in reality, that wasn’t the case.

Previously, Berry had mentioned that she needed to alter one of her appearances because it didn’t comply with Cannes’ guidelines regarding “nudity” and “extravagant” gowns. Considering the near-incidents she experienced with her wardrobe at the recent Met Gala, you might have assumed a similar issue was at hand, but surprisingly, Berry attributed the need for a change to a dress with a “too large train.” Nevertheless, she managed to make a stylish statement despite the adjustment.

It’s Halle Berry’s Red Corset Look I’m Still Thinking About

In the past year, Taylor Swift sported a straightforward corset dress at the Grammys, and this fashion trend has since made waves on red carpets. Both Jennifer Lopez and Florence Pugh have adopted it, while Halle Berry’s deep maroon gown with a train from the Chopard Universe Gala evening is my personal favorite. This style seems to suit everyone, but I find Halle Berry’s elegant maroon gown particularly captivating.

Due to the long train on the Gurav Gupta dress, she wasn’t able to wear it on the red carpet, so she found an alternative and opted for a corset gown for the event instead.

Berry is often recognized for experimenting with fashion, and once donned a reflective Christian Siriano gown that the designer found too troublesome to recreate for the runway. Moreover, she was ahead of the curve in embracing the sheer trend, a few years before Florence Pugh’s daring move on the internet sparked controversy over her exposed nipples. (Side note: Pugh remains unaware of the current whereabouts of the iconic pink dress.)

As a movie enthusiast, I must say that we’ll have to be patient for our beloved actress’s next dazzling appearance on the red carpet. The festival concluded on May 24th, and Berry and her partner, Van Hunt, celebrated the event with an intimate dinner at their favorite hideaway. With a heartfelt goodbye to Cannes, they closed out the night in style at Le Maschou, marking the end of an unforgettable event.

This week has been quite a rollercoaster ride for the actress, showcasing numerous stunning outfits that left us in awe. However, the corset dress with its ethereal train is the one that continues to linger in my thoughts. It’s unfortunate that the recent rules prevented her from wearing it whenever and wherever she desired. Fingers crossed, we’ll get to see her grace the screen for the entire film next year!
