As a cinephile who has had the misfortune of knowing the harrowing effects of cancer on both myself and loved ones, I cannot help but be moved by the inspiring story of John Reardon and his wife Meghan Ory. The fact that they were able to traverse the tumultuous landscape of cancer while still delivering heartwarming performances in films like “Believe In Christmas” is a testament to their unwavering strength and resilience.
As a movie buff who’s just wrapped up another festive season, I must say that Hallmark outdid themselves this year with over two dozen heartwarming Christmas movies. One standout among them was “Believe In Christmas,” starring the charming duo John Reardon and Meghan Ory. On-screen, they dazzled audiences with their impeccable chemistry as they journeyed through Christmasland.
John Reardon, who fans may also know from his roles on Continuum and Hudson & Rex, recently revealed he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer. Thankfully, after undergoing treatment, he was able to venture out for the first time in a long time this week, and he dropped a post on Instagram to celebrate the milestone and to praise his wife and other friends and family members who helped him get through the ordeal. Anyone who has ever gone through cancer treatment or supported someone who went through cancer treatment knows how difficult it can be on everyone. The physical toll is the most pressing and the one most talked about, but there’s also the struggle of keeping the household going and doing all of the other things healthy people need to do to keep their lives organized and functioning. It’s fantastic that he clearly has such a great support network, starting with his wife.
Meghan Ory, a familiar face to Hallmark enthusiasts, has also appeared in over fifty episodes of the recently terminated series “Chesapeake Shores”. Prior to that, the Canadian actress graced network television for many years, playing Red Riding Hood in the hit show “Once Upon A Time”, and she’s also featured in several well-received Christmas films.
Reardon and Ory got married in 2008, and they share three children. Later on, she shared his extensive life update on her Instagram stories, accompanied by a collection of photos and encouraging remarks. Here’s one of the messages she posted…
So proud of you Johnny Reardon. And #cancerfree. I love you love you love you.
Absolutely, Reardon and Ory are bound for some well-deserved fun and relaxation after such a challenging period. I can’t think of a better way for fans to rejoice with them than by seeing another Hallmark movie featuring the two. It would be wonderful to see their partnership again, not just as a testament to his progress but also because they work wonderfully well together on screen and are truly enjoyable to watch.
At the end of his Instagram post, Reardon expressed gratitude towards every healthcare worker who exhibited immense compassion towards him during his cancer treatment. He emphasized that we should aim to share such kindness generously. Truly, there’s no more fitting message for Christmas than this one.
