Halloween Horror Nights Isn't Over Yet, But Universal Studios Is Already Making Christmas Plans And A New Addition Has Me Very Excited

As a die-hard theme park enthusiast with over two decades of immersing myself in the magical realms of these fantastical lands, I can confidently say that the holiday season is the pièce de résistance of my annual pilgrimage to these enchanting destinations. The anticipation and excitement leading up to these festive transformations are akin to a child on Christmas Eve, eagerly awaiting the first glimpse of tinsel and twinkling lights.

For dedicated theme park enthusiasts such as myself, the year’s end is particularly exciting. The Halloween season reigns supreme at all parks, with Universal Studios being a standout due to Halloween Horror Nights. Soon after, the transformation to Christmas begins. Regardless of your preferred season, there’s always a fun-filled time for everyone.

I really enjoy how theme parks are adorned for holidays, particularly during Christmas. Yet, there’s one aspect that I could do without – often, the holiday atmosphere at a specific theme park remains quite similar from year to year. This makes me even more thrilled when something genuinely novel appears. So, though Universal Studios Hollywood still has a few weeks left of Halloween Horror Nights, preparations for Christmas are already underway, and I’m looking forward to the Mushroom Kingdom joining the festivities.

Super Nintendo World Is Getting Christmas Decorations

This year, USH has started sharing details about their Christmas celebrations, and while many traditional offerings like Grinchmas and The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle remain, there’s a fresh addition to the lineup. Super Nintendo World is set to undergo holiday transformation this season! Expect to see a tree and snowmen styled as Mario and Luigi amongst the decorations. Additionally, Toadstool Cafe will serve special holiday-themed dishes, and new holiday merchandise will be on offer too.

Previously, Super Nintendo World in Japan was decorated for the holidays, and the picture above is from that celebration. Therefore, we can anticipate a similar holiday makeover when Hollywood gets its turn. Although I’ve visited Universal Orlando during the holiday season, I haven’t been to Universal Studios Hollywood at Christmas time. With this new update, however, I plan on adding it to my must-visit list for this year.

I Can’t Wait To See Epic Universe At Christmas Next Year

As an avid fan, I can’t help but speculate that with Universal Orlando Resort unveiling its expansive Epic Universe next year, complete with a larger-than-life Super Nintendo World, it’s reasonable to anticipate a holiday theme might be introduced there too. However, given that the park will still be quite new, having been open for merely a few months, it seems unlikely that we’ll see this addition next year.

Without a doubt, when Epic Universe fully embraces the Christmas spirit, it’s guaranteed to be extraordinary! The Magic of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter always shines during the holiday season, and with a brand-new Wizarding World land on its way to Epic Universe, it promises to be breathtaking.

The festive period of Christmas at Universal Studios Hollywood extends from November 29, 2024 to January 6, 2025.
