As an ardent admirer of Salman Khan, I can’t help but be awestruck by his resilience and determination. The story of his career lull after Maine Pyar Kiya is a testament to the fact that even the brightest stars sometimes face dark nights. Yet, it was during those challenging times that he proved his mettle, demonstrating that he was more than just a pretty face.
On December 27, 2024, beloved Bollywood figure Salman Khan turns 58, marking a day for fans to commemorate the unquestionable kingpin of the industry. His extraordinary popularity stands testament to itself and demands no additional elucidation. Interestingly, there was a time in his career when, despite the success of Maine Pyar Kiya with Bhagyashree, Khan experienced a professional dip. Let’s pause today to recollect this intriguing phase in the life of our revered superstar.
In an earlier interview on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adaalat, Salman Khan shared that following the release of Maine Pyar Kiya, he didn’t receive any job offers for approximately four to five months. During this period, it felt as though no work opportunities were coming his way. This was exacerbated by his co-star Bhagyashree’s decision to get married after the movie, and the industry tending to ignore him at that time.
He stated that she had gotten married, took all the credit for the movie’s success, and left. It seemed to the industry folks like she was the driving force behind its success, while I merely played a supporting role.
At that point, it fell upon Salim Khan, Salman’s father and a seasoned screenplay writer, to step in. He reached out to filmmaker-producer GP Sippy, someone he had worked with on multiple projects, asking for a public declaration that they had secured Salman for an upcoming project. Once the news was published in a trade magazine, other filmmakers and producers felt more confident about Salman’s market value and started presenting him with movie offers.
During our chat, Salman shared an interesting tidbit – he earned Rs. 31,000 for Maine Pyar Kiya, while his paycheck grew to Rs. 75,000 for his subsequent film.
From that moment on, I’ve never looked back, continually moving forward with my stardom. Over time, I’ve managed to secure a unique spot in the affections of my devoted followers.
In the coming days, you can catch him in the movie “Sikandar,” directed by AR Murugadoss, alongside Rashmika Mandanna. The cast includes Prateik Babbar, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi playing significant roles. To make his birthday memorable, the film’s teaser will be released at 11:00 a.m. today. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, this action-packed film is scheduled to hit theaters on Eid 2025.
