As an ardent admirer of Bollywood veterans, I can’t help but feel a sense of profound respect and admiration for the unstoppable energy and timeless charm that is Shakti Kapoor. His life story, much like his roles, is a blend of drama, comedy, and action, making him one of the most fascinating figures in Indian cinema.
Today marks Shakti Kapoor’s 72nd birthday, and it appears that well-wishes for his special day are already flooding in. In light of this occasion, it seems fitting to reminisce about one of Shakti Kapoor’s heartwarming Instagram posts. Not too long ago, when Shraddha Kapoor was promoting her film “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,” her father shared a video dancing to one of the movie’s popular songs, “Show Me The Thumka.”
In this video, taken by the actress from Stree 2, she can be overhearingly saying “Dad, you’re dancing” as Shakti was already enjoying the music. In response to Shraddha, the birthday celebrant humorously replied, “Son, I don’t usually dance like that.” Later, the pair could be seen enthusiastically shouting, “Let’s dance!”

Shakti Kapoor first appeared on screen in 1975 and remains a prominent figure in the entertainment industry today. Throughout his career, he has starred in numerous hit movies such as Qurbani (1980), Rocky (1981), Satte Pe Satta (1982), Himmatwala (1983), Tohfa (1984), ChaalBaaz (1989), Raja Babu (1994), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Judwaa (1997) and Coolie No. 1 (1995), to name a few.
On January 12, 1982, Kapoor got married to Shivangi Kapoor, who is the elder sister of actresses Padmini Kolhapure and Tejaswini Kolhapure. Together they have two children – a son named Siddhanth Kapoor and Shraddha. Siddhanth is an actor trying to make his mark in the industry, while Shraddha is already well-known in show business.
In more casual terms, the new movie “Stree 2” starring Shraddha Kapoor, has smashed numerous box office records, making it one of the most successful films in recent history and a timeless box office hit.
Originally named Sunil Kapoor, the birthday boy’s name change was initiated by Sunil Dutt due to his plans to cast him as a villain in his son Sanjay Dutt’s debut film, Rocky. Despite Dutt’s initial choice, he felt that the name Sunil did not suit the ominous villain character he envisioned on screen, henceforth, Shakti Kapoor was born.
