This week, the mobile version of the Epic Games Store is offering a free game release! The title in question is “Happy Game,” developed by Amanita Design. Contrary to its name, it appears that this isn’t a joyous period for those involved in the project, except perhaps for those who can download and permanently keep it at no cost.

In the game “Happy Game,” you embark on a journey through a surreal, disturbing dreamscape as a child who dozes off, then awakens in a gruesome realm teeming with chaos. However, things are not always what they appear to be. Amanita, known for their quirky puzzle games like “Chuchel,” twist the formula here to create nothing less than an intense source of nightmares.

As a gamer, I’ll be plunged into a chilling trilogy of dreams, where I’ll need to crack some peculiar and unnerving riddles. Yet, these saccharine settings conceal gruesome sights and sounds that will make your skin crawl. And if you thought the music would offer any respite, think again! The spine-chilling melodies by DVA are bound to keep me awake long into the night.

It came as quite a shock to discover that Amanita Designs was behind the creation of Happy Game. Given my prior knowledge of them primarily through Chuchel, a game known for its eccentric design but also remarkably child-friendly, it wasn’t something I would have immediately associated with their studio.

If you’re unsure whether to invest your time in Happy Game, I strongly recommend reading our review written in 2023. In this review, Will gave it a generally favorable rating of four stars, commending its atmospheric qualities and the elements of horror it offers.
