‘Happy Gilmore 2’: Infamous Pro Golfer John Daly Reveals He Filmed Role in Netflix Sequel

As a seasoned gamer and sports enthusiast with a knack for uncovering intriguing connections, I can’t help but feel exhilarated at the prospect of Happy Gilmore 2 featuring none other than the legendary John Daly. The parallels between Sandler’s eccentric character and Daly’s real-life antics are too enticing to ignore.

In the upcoming Netflix film starring Adam Sandler, titled “Happy Gilmore 2“, it’s not just the main character who’s prone to being overwhelmed by feelings. There will be other characters sharing the screen with similar tendencies.

In a recent chat with Mike Gunzelman for his social media, professional golfer John Daly shared that he’s landed a part in the upcoming movie “Happy Gilmore 2”. Filming for this golf-centric comedy directed by Kyle Newacheck started on September 9th, right here in New Jersey.

When inquired whether Sandler contacted him regarding a film role, Daly responded, “I’ve already shot my scenes. It’s all coming together.” Subtly, he also silenced the camera to hint that fans should keep the information confidential.

Similar to the character Happy Gilmore played by Adam Sandler, Daly is recognized for his impressive long drives and unconventional actions. Nicknamed “Long John” due to his powerful golf swings, Daly has faced suspensions from the PGA Tour on more than one occasion and even had a physical altercation with a spectator during a 1994 golf event. Additionally, Daly’s personal life has made headlines due to his struggles with alcoholism and compulsive gambling, which he has been candid about.

In May, Sandler made an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show. During this interview, he revealed that his frequent collaborator, Tim Herlihy, who helped pen the script for Happy Gilmore 2, had recently crossed paths with Daly at a golf tournament. Sandler pointed out that Daly was entertaining Herlihy with captivating anecdotes.

When queried about Daly’s involvement in the movie, Sandler previously expressed, “I hope it will happen. Things can be unpredictable, but I adore him. I have always admired him.” Additionally, Sandler mentioned his wish for Tiger Woods to make an appearance in the film too.

In addition to Daly, several other well-known sports personalities and actors are expected to feature in “Happy Gilmore 2”. Adam Sandler had earlier announced that Travis Kelce will make a guest appearance. Margaret Qualley, Bad Bunny, Benny Safdie, and others form part of the sequel’s ensemble cast. Interestingly, Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen will reprise their roles from the original “Happy Gilmore” directed by Dennis Dugan, which was released by Universal Pictures back in 1996.
