NBC will keep its tab open at Happy’s Place.
Network officials have decided to extend the run of the multi-camera sitcom “Happy’s Place,” featuring Reba McEntire, into a second season. Alongside it, the freshman comedy series “St. Denis Medical” will also be part of NBC’s comedy slate for the 2025-26 television season.
I wasn’t too shocked by the news, given that NBC had already shown faith in us back in November by ordering five extra episodes, bumping our season tally up to 18.
So far this season, “Happy’s Place” has been a strong performer for the network on Friday nights. It currently averages 3.38 million same-day viewers, marking a significant 54% increase compared to last year, and gains an additional 1.3 million viewers through delayed viewing (excluding streaming). Unfortunately, data for its performance on Peacock is unavailable, but NBC has announced that it’s the second most successful comedy debut on the streamer, trailing only “St. Denis Medical“. The first episode, which aired on October 18th, has since garnered a total of 17.6 million viewers across all platforms.
McEntire assumes the role of Bobbie, who unexpectedly acquires her deceased father’s bar – affectionately known as Happy’s Place – and finds herself sharing ownership with Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), a young half-sister she was previously unaware of. Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn are among the cast members.
Kevin and Julie Abbott established “Happy’s Place.” Kevin Abbott serves as the series producer and collaborates with McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry, and Pamela Fryman in this role.
