As a long-time gamer and avid fan of TV shows, I can’t help but be intrigued by the unexpected surge in popularity of “Suits.” Though it originally aired from 2011 to 2019 on USA Network, my own experience with the show began much later when it became available on Netflix in 2023.
As a dedicated gamer and binge-watcher, I have to admit that I didn’t discover “Suits” until it hit Netflix in 2023. Despite its initial success on USA Network from 2011 to 2019, the show’s popularity skyrocketed with streaming, making it a must-see for many viewers like myself. Recently, I had the chance to interview Eric Roberts, one of the talented actors from this legal drama. During our conversation, he shared his insights on why working on “Suits” was such an intriguing and challenging experience.
An actor with an impressive resume featuring roles in “Runaway Train,” “The Dark Knight,” “Heroes,” and “The Righteous Gemstones,” among others, made a nine-episode appearance on “Suits.” In this series, he portrayed Charles Forstman, a billionaire investor who posed significant opposition to Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), and other main characters during Season 4. During an interview with ComingSoon, Roberts expressed surprise over the project’s unexpected success on such a grand scale that even young fans as young as 12 years old recognized him from his work on “Suits.”
As a big fan of that show, I’ve got to admit, the experience was quite a challenge for me. With all the monologues and constant rewrites coming every few minutes, it felt like an endless cycle. But let me tell you, the group was absolutely on point with their performances. It was an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable experience, despite the difficulties. I have to give a special shout-out to Gabe Macht – he truly stole the show for me. His acting skills were nothing short of amazing.
In “Suits,” dialogue played a significant role due to its focus on lawyers, their clients, and the white-collar individuals who add complexity to their lives. However, Eric Roberts found his experience on the show challenging because of the extended monologues and frequent line revisions. Nevertheless, he appreciated his time with “Suits” from 2014 to 2019, and has been particularly impressed by its recent surge in popularity since then.
In the past, “Suits” was a highly-watched show on USA television. However, its viewership during that time doesn’t come close to the massive success it has experienced on streaming platforms like Netflix. The series held a top spot on Netflix for an extended period, leaving the cast, including Sarah Rafferty, shocked and amazed when they learned that “Suits” had been streamed for billions of minutes on the platform. This renewed popularity led NBC to develop a spinoff titled “Suits: L.A.” featuring Stephen Amell as the main character, Ted Black. The premiere date for this new show has not been announced yet, but a sneak peek was recently released.
Another option to consider: besides being accessible on Netflix, the series “Suits” is additionally streamable through a Peacock membership. Furthermore, if you’re looking for new shows to explore, there are numerous other options similar to “Suits” that are definitely worth checking out.
