Harris-Walz Campaign Partners With Stars, Filmmakers and Former Presidents for Video Series

As a long-time admirer of the intersection between politics and entertainment, I am absolutely thrilled by this star-studded collaboration for Kamala Harris’s campaign! Growing up watching Hollywood productions, I never imagined that the powerhouses behind these stories would one day be using their influence to shape our nation’s future.

During the Democratic National Convention in August, the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz presidential campaign made optimal use of their time in Chicago by creating a video series starring well-known celebrities, both on screen and off, as part of their production team.

Filmed during the Democratic National Convention, this video series originated from Hollywood insiders and aims to present candid and intimate discussions among trusted figures about topics such as Kamala Harris’s presidential run, key voter concerns, the significance of the upcoming election, and related themes. The series will be progressively released on the campaign’s social media channels in the lead-up to the November 5th vote.

The series was created and interviewed its subjects with assistance from Kerry Washington, Alicia Keys, and Oscar-winning producer Bruce Cohen behind the camera. Directing specific segments were J.J. Abrams, Spike Lee (an Oscar winner), Ava DuVernay (an Oscar nominee), and Eva Longoria. Today, it was announced that Stevie Wonder had a chat with Spike Lee, while President Bill Clinton engaged in an open discussion with the renowned filmmaker.

Discussions featured in this series also involve Abrams talking to Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, Longoria chatting with former President Barack Obama, and DuVernay catching up with the Exonerated Five, a group she has a close bond with following the creation of her Emmy-nominated limited series “When They See Us”.

A significant number of participants in the series held prominent positions within the Democratic National Committee (DNC). During the broadcast, Obama, Clinton, and Emhoff delivered speeches, while Washington shared hosting duties with Mindy Kaling, Tony Goldwyn, and Ana Navarro on different days. Longoria was a keynote speaker during the closing night of the convention, echoing a phrase frequently heard by voters in presidential elections by changing “yes, we can” to “she se puede.
